Anyone In MD/DC/VA Area Have A rear A/C Condenser?
For my 86 930? I noticed some oil on the hose today and found it was cracked at the fitting. I could have it welded or I could get a new one from www.Vertexauto.com for $269. I know some of you guys remove the whole system so I just wanted to see if anyone has one for me. Thanks

Why not just braze up the leak in yours? It's copper tube into a brass fitting. Solder and a propane torch might even fix it.
It's so easy... or cheap if you pay someone else to do it.
and a dab of flat black paint over the repair and you'll never know it's there.
You have to put a wrench on the stationary fitting and carefully support it before loosening or tightening the hose fittings.
I wouldn't buy an old tube and fin condenser made for R12.
If replacing it, buy a new serpentine type condenser that works more efficiantly for R134 or R12.
Some are around $500 for drop in installation like this one from Griffiths.

Others are alot less. The fittings are different/located differently like this one if the link works...

Well,
I've been going w/o A/C since my car finished the rebuild here in N.Va. I dont drive it on 90+ days but I have, just crank the fans and keep it in the shade.
You can try taking your condenser to Charlie at Intersport 703-242-8680. He cut/weled/fabed my Kokeln alum I/C for the new intake and all welds are perfect. This is kinda small job so he may not take it though but probablyl has recommendation for your predicament.
At least summer is almost over and you could hold off over the winter to get it done the way you want. HTH
