Windshield antennae
I need some help on how to get to the connector from the windshield antennae to the radio wire. My painter said that he reconnected it when he replaced the front windshield but my radio has no signal. Do I have to take the glove box out? It didn't look like it would be easy. Any advice?

Yeah it was sarcasm. I know a lot of you are real familiar with the different parts of these beasts and it seems so easy to drop a question on the forum to find out something quickly. I try to offer what little knowledge I have when someone asks for help if I am sure of my facts. I figure it is because we all assume that someone else will answer the question and then no one replys. If you have laid on your back trying to look under the passengers side of the dash you will see why I asked. Bentley's says to remove the glove box "Screw" and even shows a picture of it. Unfortunately they fail to mention that you have to remove it by opening the glove box door and using a Z phillips screw driver between the knee guard and the door opening. You can turn the screw about 1/8th of a turn each time and it is about an inch long. Then when you get the box out, there is absolutely nothing above it. So I put it back the same way I removed it. It took about an hour to do this. I then proceeded to go in from the other side of the firewall and found the culprit. I would hate to have to replace the antennae amp. You eat the f**king cookie.

...did you get a picture of it?
my '87 car is at a shop being painted and all the glass was out.
Hopefully I get it back this week.
I have little confidence they hooked the windsheild antenna back up... so i am interested in your answer too.

If they forgot like my painter did you can do it after the glass is in provided the antennae wire is sticking out of the rubber seal on the inside of the car. Mine was routed over the glass seal and then threaded down through the dash on the extreme right side and then into the front trunk. It is not noticable to anyone unless you look for it. Once you get the wire down into the trunk behind the passenger side hinge you will see how it plugs into the little amplifier. It has to be pushed into the hole until the locking arm snaps down on the ring around the plug. It is the only shiny black plastic up in the hole. I'll take a picture of it Wednesday when I get my car back.
