Dropped my engine yesterday (3 hours) and then pulled the trans last night to get a head start for today. Cleaned up the flywheel today and started to look at the PP. It is about 1/4'' shorter (front to back) than stock and the starter ring gear won't fit on it.

Kinda annoying, especially after I had to tell the guy several times that it was an 87 with a 4 speed, not a G50 trans. Yep, no problem. They couldn't ship it out the same day I ordered it for two day shipping, so I had it overnighted to get here Friday for this weekend. At the end of our conversation, I went over again that it was PP and disc for an 87 with 4 speed.

Since I'm dead in the water, anybody want to go to the movies...

my clutch is in fits good but the tranny didnt get back in time. So I took the opertunity to adjust the valves again, rebuild the recirc vlave, pull the tail pipes off the muffler to drill it for the lm-1 bung. I'll have the tranny back next friday and get the bung wleded some time this week. this week i have some wiring i want to rerout and re mount the boost controller valve, not happy with where it is at the moment. so the only real while your in there thing i did was take the tranny to get the syncros fixed. Second gear didnt work too well. Also sent the fuel head to Imagine auto for the mod.

Take a look at your PP and make sure the starter ring gear fits. Also check the height of the PP. Mine seems to be shorter and the machined surface sticks out past the surface that mounts to the flywheel compaered to my stock one.

I've called Kenedy and sent them pics to seeee if thay could see the problem.

Sorry to hear, Rocket! I think I would have gotten desperate and shimmed the thing up with some washers! LOL!

mine is a spec clutch. but the casting for the pressure plate is A sachs. looks like they took an old sachs plate replaced all the springs and other components inside. put a coat of blue paint and a spec sticker. sent it to me with a new disc.

I thought maybe I was missing some washers or a shim ring at first, but it wouldn't work any way with out a starter ring gear on it...

Starter? You don't need no stinkin' starter! Brian could push you around the track until it started!

look at the pressure plate the contact area is out past the housing on the pressure plate. You wouldnt be able to even install it. any bolts long enough to suck it up to the flywheel would go so far through that they would touch the block.

I'm guessing you have to start with longer bolts and then eventually replace them with the correct length bolts?

I talked to the guys at Kennedy. They shipped me a PP for a 87-89 911 G50 trans. I guess they some how got the 911 and 911 Turbo mixed up, but they're going to make a new one and ship it out tomorrow. Anyway, they've made good and I'm happy.
