930 Slant barn find (Almost)
Driving with a friend lat weekend, we spotted this 911 right in the middle of large
construction equipment for sale off an Interstate Hwy.
Flipped a u-turn and went in to take a look.
Guy knows equip but doesn’t know Porsche’s
He claimed it was an original slant 930, after poking around the car I
informed him it was not a 930, but rather a 911 slant conversion made to look like a 930.
Car has 6k on the odometer and actually, under the hood and body wise, it appears like a very low
mileage car. Car Fax said it was an 83 911SC with the history started in 2000 and ended in 2003
showing 4 service records in line with the odometer in the car.
The guy apparently buys US Marshall drug seized cars and said this one had been sitting in a
Warehouse for 12 years! Wants me to make an offer, runs great but needs a lot
of TLC. Lights don’t flip, missing small items in the cockpit…
Think I can get this car fairly cheap!
What do you think it’s worth given the above?

looks like a nice 2nd car, especially if your 930 is a coupe. I would start with an offer of $6-7K and see what he says. The cosmetic stuff in the cockpit will come easy. Like any car that has sat garaged, it may have dried out seals, gaskets, hoses, lines, etc. and this needs to be budgeted it to the equation (and the price negotiation).....

Looks like a steel kit not FG and also looks like that ac ventillation was updated (note the '86 and later ac vents in the dash) so might be a decent car.

I agree with the offer 6-7 range and see what he says. I have parted out cars and you can recoupe that money easy if you discover the motor is not what it seems. Its worth that and maybe even slightly more in parts alone.
Heck I'll give him 7K if you do not want it.... Definately keep us posted.
