Default 79 930 clutch problem

79 has been sitting all winter, fired it up and the clutch will not work. Is this a hydraulic clutch that has possibly leaked all the fluid out ? Car was fine when it was driven into the garage last fall.

Default 79 930 clutch

Thanks, took the floor out under the pedals, clutch has a cable that must be broken somwhere between the pedal assembly and the housing underneath. Cable moves when thte clutch is depressed but is not moving underneath. Are there and cable connections between the transmittion and the pedal assembly that may have come loose ? I would have thought the cable would have been broken at the exposed area under the car ?

Thanks

It's one single cable. Is the clutch arm moving when the pedal is depressed? If not, broken cable. Go get the right one from Porsche or Automotion or other reputable parts seller. Then the fun really begins. I hate doing the clutch adjustmnent on these cars! Get the factory manual sections on clutch adjustments and let the fun begin. Your goal is to achieve a 25mm movement of the clutch cable. You can squeek by with 20, but you really need 25mm of travel. Go ahead..... ask me how I know.

Sorry, I assumed you had a G50 conversion for some reason. Toby's advice is spot on.

Now I think there are bigger problems. Clutch cable seems fine but car will not go into any gear while running. Could throwout bearing or pressure plate have gone out with the car just sitting ? The car will go into gear when not running but when its started, grings and will not engabe any gear.

The disc is more than likely rusted to the plate and or the center has come out (orignal disc) and jamming the pressure plate fingers from releasing. Either way looks like the clutch needs to come out.

If it's not a spring centered disc now, install one when you do.

Adjusted the cable but still no clutch. started in gear and after letting off the gas, pressure plate broke loose. All is well now, thank everyone for their help.
