That's what my 930 came with. Supposedly the K28 is an older design, but this turbo is supposed to give more boost than a K27, it has very little lag time and hits pretty hard. The waste gate is a custom Tial 962 style .9/1.0 bar. I have nothing else to compare to, so thought I would ask.

I have a k28 currently in my 84 slant. Boost hits really hard around 4k rpms. It is an older design thoug, but I still make some good hp numbers on it. Its just that the boost comes on much later than the modern garretts or HF2.

With our 911's IIRC the "K28" is actually just a name for a K29/K27 hybrid (Ruf did this too). I forget which end is which, probably the K29 is the cold & the K27 is the hot side (exhaust).

Most often or not it was build on a Diesel Mann compressor housing with a K29 compressor wheel.
Very old design and very in-efficient. Yes, it will make boost due to the large compressor wheel, but it is also pumping alot of hot air into your IC..
It was a very common hybrid 10 to 15 years ago.. Things have improved with better wheel designs.

I have a kkk k29 i'm looking to sell had to sell car and the buyer wanted it back to stock because the turbo hit so hard he could drive it only looking for $800 U.S. dollars for it. The turbo only has 800 miles and comes with a 1 year Warranty. The turbo was made by Powerhaus

I guess my question is, is the K29 KKK a step up from my K27? I am confused.

Look at the parts in that turbocharger. Base platform is a K27-7006 with a K28 compressor housing. And a very in-efficient K29 compressor wheel mounted in it..

the k29 is a k27 hybrid turbo it uses the k27 center section with a stage 5 hot housing just like the k27. here is were the difference is the compressor housing and turbine wheel are larger to move more air that why you need the adaptor plate for it to clear everything

also the GT-35r turbo uses spring thrust plate where the k27 center housing has solid plates so if your bypass valve were to fail the spring don't spread and cause your turbines to impact the housings and destory your turbo.
