Default Strange ebay car

Says it is completely original, but clearly it is not. Definitely has had some work done to it. But my question is what are the two little inserts to the left and right of the tach? Anyone seen them before?

How about the little horizontal gauges below the tach? Those aren't factory either.

They look like they might be for the audio system?

Those are what I was talking about. What could they be?

Badge on the back says "Turbo 3.6" and it definitely has a 964 Turbo Intercooler....wonder if does have a turbo 3.6? Hmmmmm.

That is a Carrera with a turbo motor. Look at the flares, they are standard Carrera. Also, in 1986 and '87 US cars, the Turbo vin started with WPOJ, the Carreras were WPOA .

Like Doug pointed out, looks like this was a standard 3.2 Carrera that had its motor swapped, presumably for a 3.6 Turbo (if that's what the ad says). Obviously not "completely original" like the ad proclaims. So is the seller ignorant, or a scheister?

A lot of things not right about the car, but I like the front valance. I am planning to add a front mounted poil cooler to my own car. Anyone have some leads as to where to start looking for that style of valance?

There is also no boost gage in the tach. There is a guy on ebay under 911 turbo who is selling one now. I bought mine from him. He is in California and he goes by sssave.

That thing should be a monster, lighter than a stock turbo (Carrera narrow body) with a 3.6 turbo, I can't see the Carrera style or 993 intake runners that the 3.6 has so it might be a 3.3. The wheels are 17" Ruf Speedlines not 18" as listed there are big reds on this one and the lights could be ECU warn and shift lights(on second thoughts I see the stock airbox) or Radar front and rear. The front valence is a Ruf copy with a semblance of a built in splitter, the real Ruf ones have a lip that is under the valence it is a separate part and it is perpendicular to the floor. I am guessing the engine is a stock 3.3 but I wonder what gearbox is in there.

Default How about the little horizontal gauges below the tach?

Those little horizontal guages look like signal strength meters from the origonal Escort radar detector in the early 80's.
The orange light above left of the tach also looks like the alert light from the Escort.
With the two meters I'm guessing the car had front and rear Escorts custom installed and the signal strength meters and alert light were put into the dash.
The little red thing above right to the tach may be an audible alert... a loud one pointed right at the driver!

the front valance is a copy of the front euro spoiler on a turbo slant nose. you can get them from vertex. betterbodies, nrauto and several others.

It's a nice looking car, but if these guys can't tell a real Turbo from a Carrera with a Turbo engine, you gotta wonder about them.

Look like front and rear mounted radar detectors to me.
