Is there a reason a high torque starter is $75 better than a remanufactured starter? I need a starter, but see no benefit in a high torque unit for the diff in price.
Thx

My car has one from way back before I bought it. Still in there and works great. I have a gut feeling that it'll out last a stock part by a long shot. That might be worth the $75 by itself. I've also had to abuse mine a couple of times and it still keeps ticking. The only thing I dont like is the sound it makes when its starting the motor. Sounds like a Honda or something.

I bought a high torque starter off Ebay pretty cheap, I forget the company, but so far so good. Plus it drops a few pounds.

I ended up buying that start, from that company. I think it was $130 delivered and is working well in my car.

The high torque isn't needed, but shaving weight is .

BTW, my notes show a 6 lb savings over the stock starter.

And it's about $100 cheaper than new/reman Bosch OEM.

Yep, the price, the weight saving & the fact that I don't have to return my old one are the reasons for me choosing this starter. The price is not all that great for me as I will have to pay import tax etc. when it gets here to my country Also it will take a while to get here.

Following a transmission refresh earlier this year my quest for lightness took over and I installed one of these Mini Starters too.... My original starter is still in great shape.

For that price, it makes you want to buy one for a spare.

Exactly, I may even be able to repair mine when I get it off before the new one gets here...

It's actually for my 3.2 carrera.

I bought an Edge Performance starter from Cambridge Motorsports. Very nicely made unit, and arrived a day or two later.

The Ebay unit is probably still way cheaper though.

BTW, Bosch make lightweight starters too, these days.

LOL that's quite funny considering I actually live in Cambridge & work in the exact centre of Cambridge. I have never heard of that company. I guess I shoulda sent you a PM. You seem to have BTDT with the 911/930
