Was the k27 7006 stock on some of the 930's?
Okey guys, here's a tricky question for ya'll. I just ordered a new K27 "S" turbocharger from Stephen @ Imagine yesterday because I'm doing some engine tune-ups. My 930 is a Euro, year 1986 (no cat). I've done a lot of research on the internet about different KKK turbochargers but there is one thing that I can't figure out.
I always thought that the 3LDZ turbo was stock on the 930's. However, I've found lot's of webpages from different turbo tuning companies here in Sweden, that say the K27 7006 was stock on 930's from like 1983,1984 and newer. Is this correct? Anyhow I'll find out which one I have, but it would be nice to sort this question out. If I have a K27 7006 on my car, how much do you guys think I can get for it if I sell it? Cars gone almost 80k miles and in mint cond...
Thanks ya'll
Best
Toby

Im sure Stephen will chim in here but I think the 3LDZ was the stock Turbo on the older 930's and the 7006 if I am correct was a stock turbo for the later years, I replaced my 7006 with the K27S from Stephen as well. You will notice a big difference in spool time as well as all around performance, this is a nice upgrade.
I really don't see alot of value in the 7006 now seeing that is is very out dated. In my opinion $300 to $400 dollars.
That may sound low, but after installing the K27S you wil see my point.
And thanks again Stephen, I love my set up.

No, that is not correct. It was never a stock turbo on a 930. You could special wish program anything. The 7006 was on the S or the LE version which is not typically here in the US. The later 91-94 C2Ts did use a K27 but the 930 as a whole used a 3LDZ.
The 7006 is a dated turbo and not really worth spending the money. They are not cheap to buy because trying to get them is hard due to low production and performance is not up to par with todays setups.
Tripster, glad you like ot

Thanks for sorting that out for us Stephen I guess I won't get that much for my 3LDZ if I sell it... However it's only gonna lay around so I better get rid of it. Looking forward getting my K27 "S" from you Stephen

I bought one as well a little over a month ago... I can't wait to take the car out and try it out. Thanks Mark (AKA Tripster) for the tip on the K27S, and thanks Stephen for selling me mine. Bart sent it to me a month back or so. It's shiny and new!
I can only imagine what the difference will be.

It seems a little tricky witrh these K27s.
A while ago I asked for this K27 which is on my 930:
935.123.025.01
K27.2 - 3004G11.11
90011 0059
5327 999 1206
the info from here: K27/2 11/11---7006
currently I am in contact with BorgWarner,
they do the 3K turbos now.
They are checking on this turbo.
First statement was:
that must be a prototype for Porsche Motorsport.
truly that dosnt help a lot, more I like to know
how it can perform.

Interesting info. Just for the group's general knowledge, a couple years ago I swapped out my stock 3LDZ (consuming gobs of oil), for a low mileage K27 7006. Although outdated by today's standards, the 7006 produced a marked reduction in spool-up time and more sustained high-end boost than the 3LDZ. So, I'm not really dissatisfied with my current setup, but can only imagine what a K27S would be like. Just can't seem to part with the $$ quite yet, since a set a headers is on the list first.

I've got a 7006 on my little 3.0 and it's laggy as hell (full boost at 3800-3900rpm in 1st) - with stock cams, b&b headers.. seems to blow fairly good on top though.
I need to win/inherit/steal some money soooo bad.

Tony,
You'd be amazed what a set of SC cams would do for your setup. It perfectly matches the characteristics of the 7006. You'll run out of breath around 5500RPM, but getting there from around 3200RPM is a lot of fun.
