Default Fuel leak and running rich!!!!

I need Help!!!
I took my beloved porsche out for a spin the other night and all was well, great power, big flames, the usual. then about 45 minutes into the drive she started to hesitate and become sluggish. I thought I might have blown an o ring or have a boost leak. Then I get a VERY strong gas smell. I take it home take the intecooler off and check everything, changed the plugs since I had it torn apart(all the plugs were severely rich with LOTS of carbon) put it back together with new o rings and a little RTV silicone just for good measure. fired it up and it was still rich and it was pissing fuel out all over the garage floor. I shut it down and can tell you that the leak is dripping down onto my right hand exhaust heater box towards the front of the engine bay. Any ideas on where exactly this might be coming from? TIA
Pete

Fuel head or the lines going to it? WUR as underpsi says? Can you start it up iand see where it's coming from before it gets too hot? Otherwise, tighten every fuel line, hose, connection, etc in the engine compartment. You could still have an old fuel line that is leaking though that needs to be replaced.

I guess I'll tear into it and check everything, just seems odd because all the fuel lines, WUR etc were all replaced back in 03 when I did my build.

You mentioned the plugs being severely carboned up. Obviousliy running over-rich, which would account for the poor running. A WUR problem/leak could cause reduced pressure after the WUR, and we all know that the lower the regulated pressure, the more gas is introduced to the combustion chambers.

Pete - If you are going to start/test it please be sure to have a 2nd person with you with a 10+ LB fire extinguisher in his/her hand, your car can be gone in less than one minute..

As the others have said, I think the WUR is a good place to start. Not sure about your year car, but there is also a vent on top of the WUR (small black hose connects it to your OEM airbox), and I have heard of fuel being dumped through this vent line when the WUR malfunctions (bad diaphram, etc.). Could also be as simple as one of the fuel lines on the WUR.

WURs were not designed to withstand boost settings much higher than stock. Boost spikes or chronic high boost (>0.9bar) can eventually rupture the diaphragm causing a loss of system pressure and a fuel leak. If you are not running a big spring then you might want to monitor for spikes caused by a faulty BOV.

OK, so how about the folks that are running consistently higher boost than stock, say 1.0 bar or more. How are they getting around destroying the WUR in a CIS system?

If you are dripping fuel from the exhaust that is bad you will wash the cylinders and destroy the rings. I had that happen when I tried to get my car started with a EFI problem. I lost compression on one of cylinders.
