Yes, and also the side rockers.

Right, the slant nose delete turbo has the standard 911 front with side rockers and the rear fender vents. This is a factory option and a few were made in 89 and I think 18 made in 87. Retro mod kits were apparently available to dealers to add the vents and side rockers to standard 930's. You can see it at www.mgmsl.com; click onto "inventory" and scroll down to almost the end of the pics to see the 87. I like the unique look, whether original or not, I saw the car and could not tell it was a mod. But don't think it is worth $47k but may interested for something less. A real nice 964 Turbo could be bought for that or less.

Chances are, a slant nose delete car is not factory original (considering all the aftermarket conversions out there from the 1980s). I don't know if the factory kept track of how many they made. Some years ago, some guy on another board (Roadfly?) had his car stolen. He claimed that his car was one of two slant nose deletes made that year. Supposedly somehow had checked that with the factory. I don't think there's a code for that option. Nevertheless, Zuffenhausen probably only made a few per year. That doesn't necessarily translate into "more collectible" or "more expensive," though.

But if the car is truly original, then the rear fenders should at least be made of stamped steel (not fiberglass or welded on steel flares), and the slats in the rear intakes should be made out of wood. You can also check to see if any other bodywork has been done to the rear of the car, suggesting aftermarket conversion.

Default A REAL Slant Nose Story

Being the owner of a FACTORY 930S "Slant Nose" car code M505 - I really don't know what you guys are talking about with this SLANT NOSE DELETE. The Slant Nose was a factory option ONLY from 1987 to 1989 and I have a factory document varified by PCNA Atlanta of the build quantities. There were actually LESS turbo coupes made than Cabs! I know everyone thinks the Cabs are more rare but not so. The ONLY way to tell if a car REALLY is a FACTORY slant nose is to order the Certificate of Authenticity from PCNA (my car has one) and that and only that will tell the story. MANY slant nose cars are DEALER opts and not FACTORY. I do not know how to upload things on the list but if you email me PM I will send you the docs and pix of my car. My car had a Thursday spot in the Barrett Jackson this year but I opt'd out because with a NO reserver auction I could not take the chance of it sticking at a low price and then having to pay many thousands of $$ to buy it back. Yes my car is for sale. eric PS Guess I figured it out == attached!!

The slant nose delete is an anomoly of the factory limited production of the intended slant nose model. It has the rear vents and boxed rockers with no slant front, very few were factory made. The question came up as to whether the one I was looking at was a factory option or modified by the dealer because I questioned the $47k asking price. Dead issue, someone from North Carolina bought it before I had a chance to test drive it.

Real nice slantnose berno but i'm not partial to the slantnose design. But your car looks real good with matching wheels.

You know I kind of agree. I was NOT looking for a slant nose when I bought this car. It just seemed like the best car for the money at the time. In fact when the pic with all the 993TT cars was taken we were walking back to the cars from getting coffee and I told them that I was not real passionate about the slant nose and that it just seemed to me that a Porsche should have headlights poking out the front. Looks a little too much like an RX7..... oh well. eric

I'm still trying to determine if the 87 slant nose delete is an original factory option or modified. The vin number shows it as a 965 model which I believe is a slant nose turbo designation. If I am correct then this should be an authentic 935 slant nose delete. It's not that I am **** about it being original, but it would be overpriced if just a body kit mod.
Another in Fly Yellow??? I would take the Fly Yellow any day. Nice change from Black, Red or Silver. Drove it today for the first time in a couple of months. Great color combo

these 930's are being sought after. The fly yello went fast and by time I went back to the 87 930 in Cleveland, some guy bought it from N. Carolina over the phone. Either one would have been a good catch. You snooze, you lose!!

A friend of mine, workin at Porsche factory, has checked
the VIN von from the "SL delete".
From their records, the car was never done as Slant Nose
or with wide rockers.

It was delivered:
venezianblue,
interieur: marine blue with linen
equipement: USA
tyres: Dunlop

thats what Porsche says...
