Default Anybody using DTA ECU

Just wanting some input if you are running DTA. I'm getting ready to pull my tec 2 out and move up. I was thinking link or DTA just wanted some feed back on the DTA.
Thanks

I'm using a DTA ECU, along with several other 930 EFI owners who post to this list. They include Dean, "D", GarrickL, and others. Juan Ruiz used a DTA, but he may have sold the car, I'm not sure. It's a good system that provides lots of features at a reasonable price. But like anything, it's only as good as the tuner who sets it up.

Are you guys using the P8Pro or the EXP48?
I played around with a couple of other cars running the exp48 and found it to be a very nice system, i can only imagine what the P8 is like...

How are you driving the spark with your DTA systems?

I'm playing around with converting to a EFI system next winter and building a complete new IM and IC setup and running a DTA P8Pro with twin-plug heads.
I'd be interested to see how you guys have setup your systems.

And I have to agree, any system is only as good as the person tuning it.

Getting someone to tune is my biggest problem. I have a tec2 and nobody can tune I had 3 guys say no problem and when I the tame came they all passed the buck. How are you guys tuning and do you have someone that looks over your date and sends back updated files. And did you guys get a pre fab harness. I can install the system but have no idea about tuning.
Schnele I just emailed Billet Design to get some info and they are only 200miles away.
Also any pics of were you mounted the ecu would be great
Thanks guys

The issue you are having with the TEC II is that no reputable tuner would ever attempt to tune it on any turbocharged engine, it is too much a liability. The system is old and does not have enough reliability and capability to run your engine. It will never, ever run properly.

Mitch,

I'm using the P8 Pro, and I think the others are too. Mine is twin plug, wasted spark, with no CDI. I'm using two Bosch 6 pin coils, the number of which I'd have to look up. Being in Vancouver, you may want to make a field trip to Seattle; I can show you what I've done and "D" lives only a short distance from me, so you could see two DTA-equipped 930s in one day.

Kleinbbc,

Definitely talk to a local tuner. Joe Rodriguez and company can steer you right. They can also help with a harness. Mine is custom made from scratch. Others have taken Carrera harnesses and modified them, I think. Either way, the harness is a lot of work and has to be done right. I had Dave Capurro from C&C Automotive and Reno build my basic harness (though I did some terminations), and he did the tuning on his dyno (with me present). It's quite a journey, but it's very interesting.

If either of you want nitty gritty details of my install, please send me a PM.

Rob

Hello ,
The wire harnness available with the DTA system for the 930 is complete and requires very little to install , it is mostly plug and play. and is designed for the unit to be mounted under the driver seat . A plug and play map is also provided making 90%-95% of what is required already done with the rest to be verified on the dyno .

For those wanting to self tune then we would recommend the system be ordered with the wideband package for self mapping assistance..

kleinbbc... You should check out this user forum for DTA:

Also that harness which A. Wayne is showing looks quite nice, expecially because of the bulkhead connector... I wish I had done that on mine.

Rob,
i would defiantely be interested in checking out your setup, sounds like you are running what i was planning on doing. Maybe if the weather is nice i might be able to bring my little 930 down to visit...but otherwise i'd still be happy to come down no matter what.
I'll be in Mexico untill the 18th, so maybe sometime before the end of the month.

What are you using for the inlet system?
has anyone considered or is running ITBs into a Plenum style Intake manifold?
I was toying around with fab'ing something like this up next winter when i do the EFI conversion...

Also, as far as injectors, what are you guys using with your DTA's?
High or Low imp?
600cc? 750cc? 900cc? 1000cc?

Thanks for all the info!
