Default Relay Under Seat

Can someone confirm for me what the black relay-looking thing is that resides under the driver's seat?

No one? In my search to figure out why my car wouldn't start I had the last of these relays in the states sent to a local dealership. Now that the car is running I don't necessarily need it, however seeing as it wasn't available thru pelican and it was hard to come by I am trying to evaluate whether it makes sense to buy it and hold onto it.

Damn thing is expensive too... $380!

Yes... I stupidly ordered it without really understanding what it does (someone suggested it was similar to a 3.2 DME type relay).

The black relay under the seat is the fuel enrichment control unit. The smaller silver one is the speed relay. The larger control unit is the oxygen sensor control unit.

I'd return it, 930LDR, if you can. As PorscheMD described it sounds like this is related to Lambda and most have disconnected these systems. I've really never heard of anyone having to mess with the relays under the seat in a 930. As was pointed out before, 930 doesn't use DME.

Regarding Lambda, it's been my understanding that in like 95% of circumstances, the O2 sensor and associated relay in the engine compartment get disconnected (also components of Lambda) and that the CO and/or AFR just get tuned to a specific number and left alone. Even my car which was damn near bone stock, had the Lambda enrichment disconnected. So to answer your question, since this system is probably not being used, it's hard to know when it fails.

I'm with Sand_man. If your o2 sensor is unplugged, then there is no need for it.

Not sure how to tell if it's good when all is plugged in other than the car not starting and warming up properly. I think that's all the o2 system really does.

Even if you unplug the o2, you still need the relay to work because it is part of the system that keeps you frequency valve at roughly 50%. the only way to be able to get rid of those relays is to have your fuel head modded by Stephen. I believe he blocks that passage on you fuel head and takes the frequency valve out of affect.
