HKS wastegates
Tials are quite expensive and add no performance over stock wastegate. Any comment on thses HKS 46mm? Just replace the spring and you are into a nice aluminum piece like the Tial for a lot less $. Is there a reason this wouldn't work?

I ran a HKS racing wastegate on my turbo and it works well, is reliable, and you can use the springs from the regular HKS wastegate if you want. Further, you can plumb it for manifold pressure above and below the diaphragm using an electronic boost controller and gain very good control over the wastegate. They come in two models, one stainless and one steel.

So would something like this work?

Just get a different spring?

The HKS Racing Wastegate (46mm) is in the 500-700 dollar range if I recall correctly. The one pictured is not the Racing Wastegate, I don't know what it is or how it performs. Check the HKS website for a picture of what it should look like.

I agree with Geoffery (you had me looking twice after changing your Avatar BTW). I have run HKS wastegates in the past and they are an excellent product....they can and will hold a candle to TiAL. I have only ever hooked a MBC to mine.

ok, dumb question here. I have a perfectly good working stock WG, which has been gone through. cleaned, and powdercoated (outside). What advantage would I get by going to a Tial or HKS? Is the reason why most people go with the aftermarket ones because when the stock one goes....it's expensive to fix??
