Default Gearbox Woes

Hi Guys,

I seem to have opend a can of worms. Whilst my engine's been out for a rebuild I thought I'd take this opportunity to have my 4 speed gearbox looked at although it's never given me any real problems. You know what comes next ... yep .... All synchros, 2nd and 3rd gear hubs, mainshaft bearings and the reverse idle gear set (teeth badly chipped and cracked) need replacing. It's hard to find these parts here in South Africa, so I am stumped. It would be highly appreciated if someone could please provide me with some contact details and approx pricing (especially for the reverse idle gear set) for some or all of these parts. Eternally gratefull .. Mo

You will need to check with these companies for pricing:

Patrick Motorsports www.patrickmotorsports.com

EBS Racing www.ebsracing.com

Once you get pricing, PM me about freight to ZA. I work for UTi which is headquartered in JNB and can get good freight rates for you.

You may try Rick Deman at Deman Motorsports 845-727-3070 who has lots of 4spd spare parts, new and used.

Does anyone know where to get gearbox bearings from cheap ? And by that I mean the price, not the quality. Seems here in the UK I will end up getting them from my local OPC as even pelican doesn't seem to be competitive. I tried buying them direct from SKF and *** here in UK.
I need them for my 915.

Thanks for all the contacts. I have e-mailed everyone ... maybe I'll get lucky. Hi Geoffrey, Do you have an e-mail add for Rick Deman?

I just converted one of my upside down 935 box internals to street 930 stuff... Roger at Powerhaus II suplied me with a lot of the parts at a fair price...also make sure you run some Swepco in that box when it is rebuilt.

Oh.. and email Stephen right above my post will ya....don't leave him out ! Besides.. he has to be better than good otherwise the unmerciful crew on this forum would have ran him out a long time ago
