Keep my 930 or 621hp 993tt
Most of you might remember I am in the midst of a build on my 930 described below my car is not yet complete but an opportunity has come up on a 993tt with a stage three autothority kit and Gemballa turbo S body less than 30k miles, what would you do? I will no doubt take a bath on my 87 930 that I paid 39k for and I have already spent more than 40K on it and it is not yet done it has 37xxx on it now with a fresh build. I can't give any further details on the 993tt for fear of spilling blood in the water.
Project Type 930
Engine
Stock crank, case, oil pump, etc.
Case boat tailed
Pauter rods
3.4L 7.5:1 pistons
Cylinders and heads Nirostat fire rings
930 heads ported with stock valve sizes, but smaller 993 valve stem diameter on inlet valve
Valves to be back cut for flow improvements
Twin plug with Bosch silver plugs W4CS
Imagine auto valve springs and titanium retainers
GT2 Evo custom grind cams
Carrera 3.2 liter intake manifold
Stock fuel rails, regulator, damper, etc, stock fuel pressure
Siemens injectors
Full bay intercooler or C2 Turbo (AC Retained) I still need an Intercooler
B&B Headers (retained)
Fabspeed Dual out exhaust
Imagine Auto’s HF2 Turbo
Tial BOV, Wastegate
MoTeC M600
M & W double ended coil
M & W CDI controller
HKS EVC 5 boost controller
Transmission
G50/50 Patrick Motorsports with Guard LSD
Suspension
(RSR coilovers tentatively to be added to the project as well as Recaro topline sport seats)
I currently have upgraded torsion bars and custom valved Bilsteins. I will consider any recommendations for street with mild track applications?
Braking and Running Gear
The car presently has Big Reds all around and 17” Ruf classics (17x8 and 17x 10 with Michelin Pilot Sport Cups).

I would have to stop the madness and enjoy your labor of love for a while. I've probably put only a fraction of the time and effort into my project that you have and I can't imagine bailing now.
There will always be another tasty alternative to your current project- I say finish the 930- for what that's worth.

Finish the car because:
Aren't you curious to see how it goes?
You won't take as much of a bath as you will if you sell it the way it is.
TT's come & go
You'll never know how it compared to the TT
As for suspension I wouldn't do the coil overs. I would consider a softer torsion bar/ shock re-valve for a better street ride, and add some stiff sway bars for better cornering. Or, the Fox shock set up. (Just my opinion)
Harold '79 930/DP935
Currently having the 3.5 twin plug rebuit (I feel your financial pain)
'73S coupe
'75 Carrera (RS look) race car w/3.4 twin plug
'68 VW Crewcab w/3.2 & 5 sp.

oh I plan on finishing the car before selling but is has been going on since super bowl weekend, I just want something I can drive now. I am close now though, to the completion of my car. Too many months were spent laboring over the parts choices and so on to walk away now.

if money is an object youll want the TT after the honey moon period ends.
I guess the money spent on the tt mods is someone elses loss, so make it YOUR gain!
alot of money has been spent on mine and ive spent a fair bit too. I still desire a 993 tho, what you get for the money is damm good value now.
If you dont want it promise to let us know the details!

Kind of depends how you want to use your Porsche (assuming you have only one). If the Porsche is going to be an all purpose daily driver, the 993 is awfully hard to pass up (assuming the mods are done right). If it's going to be a "have fun now and then, good percentage of track time" car, then the 930 can't be beat. Raw is great fun, in the right doses.
In my case, the 930 is NOT my daily driver. I get comfort, air conditioning (which I don't use) and other amenities from my daily driver (Dinan SC E36 M3). The Porsche is the special car. Perfect split, at least for me.
But I don't think I'd want to drive the 930 every day. Would feel like a waste, among other things.
Depending on the Gemballa body style at issue, the 993 might be a good choice, if you want to drive it a bunch. Some of the Gemballa's look a bit 80's Miami Vice to me, but to each his own....

the car is used simply as my respite from the everyday grind, fairweather, no track, back road torcher nothing more. I have an SRT 8 Jeep grand Cherokee with a 6.1 liter HEMI and huge Brembos as my driver.

I had a similar question and posted it on Pelican. Here is my thread

I decided to keep them both.

Keep the 930. Nothing quite says, " I have the biggest, baddest, hairriest ***** on the block" like a modified 930. Lets face it, a tough 930 is a formidable weapon in the right hands. Park a tough looking 930 next to any other 911 series car and there is no question it looks the biz, the others fade in comparison. Everthing about them is extreme. With those massive wide guards to that 'in your face' rear tail they look like they are about to smash your face in just standing still.
