Some of you guys probably recall when they quit importing the 930 to the US after 79. If I recall there were many of those put up because people thought they would be able to sell them for big bucks somewhere down the line. Then they came up with the one time exemption in 83 where a guy could bring in a Euro have it certified etc. That diminished the value of those put up 79's. Then they bring the Turbo back in 86 and that reduced the value of those 79's even more. I wonder if this guy was thinking the same thing because he had the last of the original looking Turbo's?
I doubt this guy will much more than half his money back unless he sells it a Barret Jackson or someplace like that.

Can you imagine the reliability problems some poor bloke is going to have if he buys that and tries to actually go somewhere in it? I might have ponied up $25,000 for it. The balance being reserved for my mechanic!

This car sounds like the car that was listed for sale on Traderonline for almost a year @ $58K. I believe it was in West Palm Beach, Florida. If this is in fact that car, Richard Sloan had inquired and passed on it. I shutter to think of the issues a 480 mile 17 year old car must have. We all know, these cars NEED to be driven!

I bought my 88 2 years ago with only 28 thou on it. Sat for years in climate control and almost everything dries out. Over the years all things have been replaced engine rebuild, wiring, air. Personally, I thing the car would have been better off being driven. I have put 25 thou on it since and it is a bullet since the rebuild. No regrets.
Pricewise 930s are not comparable to 993s or later turbos. They are lighter, louder, and wilder-many people(including me) like that. Also, the basic shape and style is truly iconic. There was an article in Excellence about the YellowBird that really said it all. They will be worth more every year. It does not matter what the original price was. Just ask the Ferrari guys(Daytonas were in the 20s to 30s new). Enjoy the boost!
