Is it just me or are there others out there who have trouble getting to sleep because they're thinking about they're Porsche. I have found myself waking up at stupid hours of the morning thinking about this bloody car. I have owned several Porsches now including a close to 400hp 944 Turbo but that car did not invoke the emotions that this '85 930 ( 93,000kms on the clock ), should I seek professional help, LOL
I never think about the money I have in my car, and I never total the reciepts. Somewhere in the back of my mind I know I could probably have a 993 turbo for what I have in my car, but I don't care. I love my car and wouldn't trade it for anything, or any amount of money. that being said, last night I laid down at 9:30, but didn;t fall asleep till around midnight because I was thinking about my 930. I remember the first night I owned it, I couldn't sleep a wink. I ended up taking my pillow and blanket into the garage and sleeping in the drivers seat. lol.
Thank Christ, I was worried it was just me, lol. I'm in Australia, and purchased my car sight unseen and had to wait a couple of weeks to take delivery, on the other side of the country, what a harrowing couple of weeks. Wife said I was an absolute a..hole for those two weeks, lol
My 930 has just arrived on the truck...It is going straight to the shop to get registered. I am literally five or so days away from driving not only my first 930, but my first porsche...you all know how little sleep I am getting!!!
I have a tendency to constantly open the door in my house that leads to the garage and just stare at it! It's hard for me to believe that it's actually parked there.

Seems like we all have the same symptoms. I routinely spend time in the garage several times in the late evening looking at the car and just stroking it with a towel. Dust doesn't look good on black.
Last night I spent some quality time with the car till midnight. But this time I was drilling holes in the break and clutch pedals for putting the sportier RUF aluminum pedals on.
I also don't get bothered by thoughts of spending too much money on the car. I am putting on a couple of bolt-on upgrades at this time and consider the money spent the same as if I had treated myself for some special restaurant dinners. In other words, it's my own choice and fault and no need to worry whether I'd ever get the money back if I sold the car. That will never happen in any case.
The car is that special. I have had a couple of nice looking Mercedes cars prior to my 930, and strangely they never lured me downstairs to the garage like this one does. No other car has ever done that to me before.

I get up every morning, walk in the garage, and say "I cant believe that is mine."
I still feel like some car God is going to fall from the heavens and tell me its not really mine and that there was some mistake in the paperwork or registration or smog testing years ago and take it from me.
I find that reading Total 911, 911 & Porsche World, Panorama, etc. A.K.A. car ****, puts me to sleep, eventually. It's not easy though, especially after a good drive.
I'm not an owner yet but I've spent many a sleepless night dreaming about a white 930 that stole my heart during a test drive. Such a tease....
...soon...
...I feel like Gollum without his ring...
Mate, I feel for you. I had the same dream and now I have it. A beautiful GP White '85 930 with green/grey trim ( can't remember what the trim colour is called ). And now I always seem to be broke. LOL. Just broke the gearbox, damn. There goes the kids school fees, lol
