I swear the thermostat is underneath my car (?) anyways my front oil cooler is hot so Im assuming that thermostat is working. I have all new thermostats and gaskets coming. Its probably good to change them anyways.

The front oil cooler is in your fender or your air dam? Follow the lines back and see if you can find the thermostat I posted or anything that interupts the flow of oil to the engine. They should be under the passenger side rocker panel. There has to be something. If not, you need to add one.

ok i found it, its where it was suppose to be. I never noticed it because it was covered in black. This thermostat controls the front oil cooler right?

With the engine warmed up, feel the lines going to the front. See if both of them are warm, as they should be with oil going to and from the oil cooler.

If only one line feels warm all the way to the oil coler and you've driven it anough, then you have a bad thermostat. I replaced mine, but some have had luck getting them apart to replace the needed parts.

Yes.

When the oil is hot the flow should be hot and the return slightly cooler. If the return is rather cool (and also some area of the cooler) then this will be due to inadequate flow which is likely to be the thermostat not fully opening as Rocket said.
Obviously the return should be cooler due to heat dissipated although at idle unless a electric fan is working well then there won't be all that much of a difference.

Also do you still have the engine oil cooler as well ? it is located near the oil tank on the right hand side of the engine near where the transmission bolts on.

Guys, does the engine cooler have a stat as well ?

I wonder if at sometime in the past something in the engine has screwed up and blocked one of the coolers with swarf/metal and the rebuild has been bodged. It's a possibility ?

changed the engine thermostat earlier, temps went up slower but still got hot. After driving I checked the rear thermostat and it was blistering hot, but the front oil cooler was cold. so its time to change that.

The oil circulates in the engine until it warms up enough and then the rear wheel thermostat opens up. Then it starts to flow through the front oil cooler.

It took a couple of hours. Having a 36mm wrench, like the one at Pelican, helps a lot. The others can be done with a 32mm I think it is or crescent wrenchs.
