If they are different does anyone know which position the red and black ones should go? Maybe someone with a garage queen which has never had them changed could take a pic, or does anyone have a manual that shows which ones go where.

regarding the difference between the two relays, my understanding is that the red standard relay [911 615 108 01] has an internal diode and that the black standard relay [911 615 109 01] does not. in the factory parts and technical reference catalog, porsche states they CANNOT be interchanged.

The red relay is not red to signify more "load" It works a bit differently if you look at the wiring diagrams. I always have to look at the diagrams to explain it to myself. I must have a mental block that keeps it from my memory or something. But, there is no difference in load.

Gee, I'm going to post pics of my front and rear fuze/relay panels tonight. I don't have any "reds" in the front and I don't think the one in the back looks like the rest of yours either....hmmmm!?!

If I remember correctly, they used black relays until 1986 when they went to the red. I have seen both used and at one time I had it figured out why. I'll try to do some research.

I gots to know, did you use five or six . . . . . I feel lucky.

Actually, all of mine are red (in my 88). Porsche dealer here has no clue and needs my relay for the part number, how nice.
