I also have a LM-1 and I have compared it with a Motec one and both reads the same.
My sensor placement is similar to fast82930 but a few more inches down from the turbo (I don't have a muffler).

I wanted to be 4” from the turbo but couldn’t find the room without a lot more work. I was using the “before the turbo” bung that came with my B&B headers before I moved it to the current location.

Since my car is 95% track, I’ll probably have straight pipe from the turbo to the right rear exhaust cutout fabricated and have my wastegate pipe changed for the left cutout.

Don’s incorrect AFR readings and recent motor problems even stressed me out.

Could one effectively install an O2 bung into a Zork Tube? Would the formula using the dia of the tube be the same for the Zork considering that creates little if any back pressure? Any Suggestions?

For a single, right-hand exit muffler, would you recommend placing the sensor after the muffler, instead of before?

I've always got better readings when measured in the headers than with the tailpipe clamp. less fluctuation in the log. Not to say that if your tailpipe from muffler to exit was longer, say 18", you wouldn't get usable results if measured at the closest point after the muff and farthest from the exit.

I'm using a zork with my engine. I have the tailpipe clamp with my Innovate. At idle, my AFRs are 14.3 to 14.5. On boost more like 12.3. As for that formula, I've heard that for our engines, the wide band needs to be placed about 6" on the exhaust pipe that exits the turbo. I think my clamp puts it very close to this.

I have always installed the O2 sensors between the turbine outlet and the muffler and have one yet to fail, including my own which was 2" from the turbine outlet and was running the Bosch LSU-4 which is known for its sensitivity to heat. I believe this to be the best placement in our engines. Installing it after the muffler often results in an erroneous reading from fresh air due to the lack of length to the tailpipe opening.

Cool, thanks Geoffrey. I'll put my LM-1 sensor just before the muffler then

You've sold me on the "Just before the muffler" spot too.

Here is a pic of where I would like to locate my wide band probe. Please comment of this spot. As you can see, the turbo exit is just above this spot but I feel like I don't have enough room to keep it cool only 3 inches from the turbo.

Personally, I'd install it between the turbo and muffler, but it should work where you want to install it.

You could even put a fitting in both and compare results from one position to the other. You just need another fitting and a bung. Won't take much extra time to drill and weld two than one. If you get too much heat by the turbo you could move it to the one below.
