I concur on the shorties.

What have you come up with in form of solutions to overcoming too high db sound levels.

Guys: Any pics of Bob's or Reid's work.

When I had CIS, I went from B&B to Marco's equal length, dual feed wastegate header. To accept the larger diameter pipe (1 5/8"), I had had to open the exhaust ports a bit. I lost close to 20 hp on a dynojet dyno because of loss of primary back pressure. These were too much header for a CIS. Ideally, I should have ordered 1 1/2" short primaries and divided flange (L and R side separate with cooresponding hot side).

Now that I have EFI and the low end can be tuned, the pipes are just about right. I would still opt for the short pipes rather than equal length because 90% of my driving is street, under 5000 rpm. If it were a track car, then these headers would be the only choice.

I have a custom set from Powerhaus to match my larger 964 non-turbo exhaust ports. The GHLs (3.6) were extremely restrictive to the point of overheating the engine. I think these are actually made by B&B but they use much larger primary tubing. The difference was night and day on this motor. 3.6L 964 NA with 8.5:1, K29 and Tec3. They were $100 more than ordering the standard B&B headers.

My powerband seems to be about 4000-7000rpm. I also have 964 cams, so I am not entirely sure how much of an effect those had on shifting the powerband up as well. They are excellent quality headers, and I'd definitely buy them for any future projects.
Getting different gearing replace's the lower end powerloss. Is it very noticeable or is it barely missed?

My car is an '87 Carrera, and I'm using the stock '87 Carrera G50 with the stock ring gear, so the stock final drive (8:31/3.87 I believe). It's already fairly short as is. My main issue is with timing being less than optimal. There is still a decent amount of low-end torque and off-boost power, however my issue is with my turbo response.
