I need ideas for engine top end 'color' scheme. I like low-key, clean design......silver, black......stuff like this which goes with the 930s look as well as the CF engine shroud I've ordered:
Fan and housing scheme? Who has some ideas in the form of pictures/descriptions?
THX!

I think the CF shroud looks cool! I'll add that to my list, if I need a winter project. Personally, I went with high-temp black on the fan housing and high-temp clear on the fan. Once I finally need to replace the alternator, I'll probably have these parts powder coated.

Hmm, I like that idea. I can do it myself.
Do you have more info on what pain and a pic of your setup?
I imagine it is posted somewhere, just point my head in that direction......

If you're in there and you have the time, send your parts out to be powdercoated. It's much more duarbale than the paint. Just be conscious of the powdercoating on the edges of the fan blade. If it's too thick, it will make contact with the housing...powdercoating is quite a bit thicker. The local guy who was going to powdercoat my parts was backed up and I couldn't wait...thus I went with high-temp stuff from any old parts house. At least I can touch it up if I need to. I guess both have methods, paint and powdercoating, have their pros and cons. Wurth makes some good products too.

I used high temp engine paint but if you look at the instructions on the can your also suposed to used the high temp engine paint primer which the parts store did not stock. I had them order some then after it was painted with color coat i put on a layer of clear coat then baked in the oven 300f for 30 min. After it had cooled it was very hard and resistant to chipping and scratches. much harder than the parts that were too big to fit in the oven.

Brilliant idea of 2006:
The shop which is rebuilding recommended this - bead blast the fan & housing, then clear with matte Wurth's. Looks really sharp - kind of a subtle textured dull industrial silver - and is very durable.
I plan on doing it myself, I'll take pics when it's finished -
