Default Genuine Porsche RS 18" 3 piece split rim Speedline wheels

I have the opportunity to purchase a set of Genuine Porsche RS 18" 3 piece split rim Speedline wheels F8" R10", the part numbers are Front 99336213681 Rears 99336214081. My question is are these a direct bolt on replacement on my 87 euro 930 or is there a lot of work involved, also what size tyres would I need to fit. Thanks Guys

Colin will know, but being bank holiday weekend he's not going to be available until Tuesday, I was thinking of going and picking them up before then as I don't want someone else to buy them. They are 3750 quid without tyres, brand new boxed, supposedly 5k new, is that too much?

Is Colin there............? Help

Hi Jean
I haven't got a clue, I know the Fuchs wheels on mine at the moment are 7" x 16" on the front and 9" x 16" on the rear. I haven't had the "what tyre with what wheel" education yet, it's one of those areas where the coin hasn't dropped!!

To be honest I dont like modern wheels on 3.2's or 930's it just looks wrong. The Fuchs is such a nice wheel anyway. Speedline 3 peice are one of the best looking wheels you can buy but they are an absolute b1tch to look after. More trouble than they are worth, as far as a new set is concerned. If you really want a set try and find a decent second hand set for around £1-1.5k.

I guess your right James, which wheels do think I should get for mine then? I do like the originals but being 16" I am limited with the brakes I can fit, it has the 993tt callipers up front with the original front callipers on the rear at the moment, but when I end up fitting the big reds I’m going to need bigger wheels so I thought I’d push the boat out and get some new wheels now, my originals need a refurb too so the time is right for a change, your input would be appreciated

I completely disagree, I think modern wheels looks fantastic on these cars, especially the right design and size. Many modern wheels are tasteful, lightweight yet strong. With wheels its always a matter of owner preference and taste and also the look you are trying to achieve.

I have a database of over 200pictures of different modern wheels on 930s, if I had the time I would post every picture and I am sure I could quickly change your mind -or run through the 50pages of 930 pictures posted on here.

Modern wheels (the right one anyway) updates the "look" of the car while keeping the classic lines and no need for silly body kits or extra \ aftermarket spoilers (although again there are some very nice front spoiler choices available).

I do think 3750quid is waaay too much for a set of those Speedlines. By the time you add tires \ tyres you are looking what almost 4500quid or more??? That is a heck of alot of money. They are great looking wheels, but wow...super heavy (my only criticism).

Here is some useful info to always remember, offset for a 930:
Front: 24mm
Rear: 20mm

Hope that helps - Yasin

Thanks for the offset info Yasin, I’m at a loss with what wheels to fit, I have to change them for two reasons, the first is the brake issue which I mentioned earlier and the other is I can't get any decent rubber for them either, it took weeks to source SO2's and they aren't the best! I'm open to ideas, not really bothered if they are 17's or 18's, would love to have some wide rubber on the back, more for aesthetics than practicality, I love the look of pjb's new wheels on the 993 turbo forum, thread "My 19" HREs are on...pics!", I noticed from your post that you looked at them but didn't want 18's, why?

No problem glad to help.

The 17" vs. 18" debate has been around for ages. Again preference....the reasons I upgraded to 17"

1) Less weight \ rolling weight especially - this was very big for me
2) I did not need a 315 tire in the back of my car..275 was plenty for me
3) 17" in my opinion looks simply perfect on the 930 (18s do look great too)
4) There is a debate about 18s possibly upsetting the handling the 930 handling \ balance somewhat
5) Cost

Shameless plug:

BTW I have seen 19s on a 930!

Regards - Yasin

I don't want to offend any one but new wheels just don't work, just like 80's music isn't 90's music. One set that does look quite nice though, and is light weight, is the Veloce GT1: http://www.essentialstyling.com/gt1_lightweight.htm

Some one on PH has a set on his car and they don't look half bad.

Those wheels do look nice, found the link

What do you think they would look like with black centres?

The wheels you inquire about are rare and I think out of production. The offsets for these wheels are 52 front and 65 in thre rear. You will need big spacers, then you need to ask yourself, do they really look right with big spacers.

They fit nicely on the 964 Turbo with just a 6mm spacer in the rear. Here is a picture on my car: Wheels

BTW: the wheels are pretty heavy.
