MSD requires splicing into the car's harness. Next is up will be new plugs, wires, dist cap and rotor.
No splicing required, you attach the proper connectors on the MSD to plug into the factory harness.

I was thinking the same thing. In the end I guess it doesn't matter, so long as your car is running right. However, I try to avoid changing too many variables at once for the same reason that JBL930 noted. I'm glad it's running for you.
