Q for Kevin. Should exhaust have reversion lip?
I'm about to build the exhaust for my K27HF2. My plan is to make a flange that matches the angle of a 14° 2-5/8" to 3-1/2" transtion then a 3-1/2" straight through muffler and exhaust tip. After looking at the Porsche site for the new 997TT and cutaway for the turbo, I'm wondering if I should have a step in the ID of the flange that helps to prevent reversion back into the turbo. With such a free flowing exhaust, is this necessary?

David, I just caught your post.. The 997TT has variable vanes that are redirecting the angle of the exhaust. This is different than the straight outlet from the rotating turbine wheel. I would just go with your first design.. You are already making it a transition to a larger diameter. And you have already caught the 14 degree angle with in effect is a built in lip...

Cool, thanks. Hopefully I'll have the tubing and muffler from BurnsStainless next week and I can finish another piece of this never ending puzzle.

A burns stainless 3-1/2" x 12" long. It may not knock the sound down much, but my original plan was to use a zork tube so I figure this will be a hair quieter. Plus it's rebuildable.
