Default CIS/Jetronic/Motronic

I am confused about the exact factory injection and management system in my '86. A few references state that Motronic was introduced in 86-87, which allowed the return of the Turbo to the US. It's not Motronic/DME as in the 84-89 Carrera, is it though? Possibly some additional oxygen and other monitoring for '80's emissions grafted onto an earlier system? I think the core injection is CIS; is the overall system K-Jetronic, KE-Jetronic, etc?

A few Bosch system references are listed on Pelican that appear to cover all variants. Which reference would be best to learn more about the 930's system?

Also, considering the cost of cumulative 911/930 factory manuals, would a reasonable substitute be the Bentley Carrera (or SC) manual ($70-90) and the factory turbo manual ($285)?

AFAIK, the CIS was used until 1996 when the 993TT got EFI. I'm sure they made emissions changes through the years, but I don't where to find details.

There are some CD manuals available online. There was a big thread about this not too long ago.

Ok, this is from memory so I will double check my info in the morning.

Starting in 73.5 with the 2.4 T the cars went CIS. All of them.

NA cars were CIS until 83.

NA Motronic/DME 84-89(batched system) M3.1

NA Moronic/DME 89.5-95 OBDI M2.1

NA 96-98 OBDII M5.2

NA 99-01 OBD2 Motronic 7.2

NA 996 01- Motronic 7.8

Turbo CIS no 02 control 75-79

No US cars 80-86.

86-89 Turbo CIS 02 control emission

91-94 CIS but with DME ignition and boost computer to adjust the frequency vlave on the head. (controlled enrichment)

96 Twin Turbo Motronic/DME OBDII 5.2

01-Present OBDII Motronic 7.8

Whether typo, intentional, or Freudian, I like "Moronic" for 89.5-95. Also summarizes neatly what I know about 930's so far. I'd be happy with a good schematic/wiring diagram for the system.
