Default Rebuild Parts ****

Recieved my Master Rebuild kit from Imagine Auto. In the box were also included my ARP Head Studs and ARP Rod Bolts. The kit seems to be VERY complete and I'm happy about that. I'm sure that if I chose to shop around for every little last nut, bolt, gasket, and other BS that went into this thing that maybe I could have saved a couple of dollars (maybe not)...HOWEVER, I liked the idea that these are the exact same parts used by someone as well respected as Stephen, I couldn't be happier. It was also important to me to support someone who's always been there to answer my questions! Thanks Again Stephen!!! Now where does all this shiz go?

Ah..yes. Your kit reminds me of the last one I bought (less the ARP hardware). What a fun job it was rebuilding my 930 motor. It took half my garage for space to spread out the 1 million pieces the motor was in. But I really did enjoy it. I like Imagines kit looking at yours. I'll have to get my next one from them.

No Sameer, I've got to draw the line some where. Here's a list of the other stuff that I'm planning:
-SC cams
-Electromotive XDi twin plug ignition
-3.4L Ps&Cs - brand new (not replated) Nikasil fully finned cylinders with the appropriate JE pistons (Henry Schmidt made me an outrageous deal that I'd be stupid to pass up)
-Tial waste gate with a .8 spring
-lot's of TLC during re-assembly!
-lot's of advice from my Rennlist Brothers!

sand_man,
sounds like a good rebuilt. The fasterners are good enough unless your going for abov 700bhp than you'd wanna go ni resist. Good luck and keep us posted.

sand_man,
I forgot to add that one thing you might wanna add to your rebuild which does'nt cost that much would be race valve springs with titanium retainers.

sand_man,

Now the fun really begins. I did a top-end overhaul in the summer of 2003 and loved every minute of it. Lots of baggies (for grouping parts), cans and cans of brake cleaner (clean those mating surfaces VERY well) and about 100 hours of my time. Wayne's books, factory workshop manuals, my buddie's notes from Bruce Anderson's class, OUTSTANDING advice and support from my very good friend Sam M. and LOTS of help from Stephen along the way. My 930 has been so much fun to drive since getting back on the road. The moment of startup was gut-wrenching, but extremely gratifying when it started and ran with NO leaks! Enjoy the time, and regale us with your rebuilding adventures. Best of luck....

And Merry Christmas to all my fellow Rennlister's!

Toby

Excellent advice, Sameer! I plan to take my parts to the machinist this week to discuss my options and stuff. I'll be sure to mention that.

Merry Christmas to you Tobby and thanks for the words of encouragment!

Stephen, is there anything else from your kit (besides the valve guides) that I need to bring to the machinist? What about the bearings that you included? I want this to be right!

sand_man,
the race valve springs and ti retainers will be worthwhile in case you over rev, look at it as added insurance. It also helps lighten up the valve train.
