The reason people say this is that on older cars with old leaky seals, syntheics will leak more.

Yasin-
so, another "Z" man... but Datsun became Nissan before a turbo was put into that car.
I absolutely loved that vehicle from first bought stock (9-'69)... through college... to modified SCCA 'til 6-'83 when I gave it away to another 19 year old college student... right of passage.

ran wonderfully throught those years on dino juice Castrol 20-50w.

My 85 eurospec 930 had always used Valvaline. Then my mechanic on the last oil change convinced me to go with Mobil 1 because Porsche now recommends it in all of its motors no matter of age or whatever. I've done this before with old motors. Although I agree it gives better wear protection and stands up to the heat better than conventional oils my experience has usually been that the higher levels of detergents in the additive packages used in synthethics cleans all of the gunk out of seals and galleries and usually will find at least one spot to leak from. Sure enough, my up to now dry motor is leaking and putting oil on the floor of my garage which is like the number one pet peeve my wife has about cars. So, looks like its going back to find out where its leaking and get it fixed. Which I'm sure won't be cheap.

So I went to RP and had a good drive with the car this weekend... I can say the engine is a bit quieter now, but no noticeable HP gains (surprise surprise!) but the car pulls like a mule still and I still have this childish laugh as after pulling away in third
I will see if temps are lower and keep an eye on the oil as the miles rack up...
