89 slant nose ?
Don't know too much about these cars, however I bumped into one today thats nearby, much to my surprise. I've done the search here on the R-LIST and it appears its not a factory option car as I've seen picture of others like it.
Black/Black cabrio w/31k on the clock, speedlines and it outstanding condition, non-turbo. Again, I've done the search and most everything I've seen is with respect to turbo slant nose cars. Owner said he would take $40k, and I'm curious. TIA

A non-turbo slantnose is not factory. The option code under the hood should read 505 for the US, and 506 for the ROW. I paid $38,900 for a 1988 Factory Slantnose Cabriolet in excellent condition, so the $40,000 he is asking is very high in my opinion.

Keep in mind Blaine stole his car with ski mask and gloves though!!
BS's car would be high 40s near my hacienda. I think he really hit the proverbial jackpot (and Im envious, jealous, and all the rest too).

Blaine must have stolen his his car! I'd hate to say what I had to pay for my '89. I have 23k miles. How about you, Blaine?
Tom, Blaine is right in that the Slantnose was a factory option only for the Turbos. In 1989, that option cost $30,000 when the list on a Turbo was about $70,000. You can imagine the delta on a non-Turbo.

Thanks for you help everyone, its says Carerra on the tail so it can't bet a turbo. It sounds like its high not withstanding Blaines car the he apparently stole......, but I'm gonna look into it more. Apparently the car came out of Portland OR. and was once owned my Eric Metcalf the x-NFL player.

Here's the thing:
They still made Factory Turbo Looks in 1989 (last year of them, damn few though espec. cabs - most were made in 84). So the turbo fenders, suspension, brakes, and everything would be *****-on turbo, but youd still have a NA engine in the back which was factory.
The tricky part is, I THINK the FTLs did not come with Carrera badging on the rear as standard equipment and I dont even believe it was an option because FTLs are not Carreras. However on regular 911 NA Carreras, the Carrera badging was standard but with an option-delete choice too.
What Im getting at is you need to check the VINs on the car and the option codes. If its a true FTL, it will have option code M491. Otherwise, all the fender flares and turbo stuff is aftermarket. And theres no getting around the fact that the slant has to be post-production unless it was Special Wish, which is pretty much 1 in a million.
All option-coded slantnose cars are turbos. A few non-option coded slantnose turbos were Special Wish cars before the option was created.
Believe it or not, theres a guy at some of the car shows I go to that has a factory built Special Wish 911 NA slantnose. Completely non-turbo in every way including narrow fenders. Its too bad the car needs more care to do well at the shows. I dont even think the owner has any idea what it is he's driving as far as being a rare bird.

This narrow NA slant has those boxed rockers. I'll see if I have a pic of it somewhere. I was parked 2-3 cars away at the last car show so I might get lucky in finding something.
Theres also another NA slant Ive seen at shows but its a conversion.

There was a guy that lived near me in Huntington Beach, Ca. in the early 90's that had a white turbo look factory slantnose. They were very rare but could be special ordered on a M491 plus about $28,000. I believe he was the original owner and had all the paperwork when we were looking it over. Its the only one I have ever seen since I started collecting Porsche's 20 years ago.

My car had 72,000 miles, thus the lower price. It had a few oil leaks that needed to be dealt with and some curb rash on the rims. Altogether, I think it was a fair price.
For those of you that paid more, low miles coupled with a low production vehicle yields bigger money.

First and last pic: I believe this car is original factory spec, slant, widebody, non turbo. may have been a special wish car. pretty rare bird.
middle pic: factory narrow non-turbo body slant.
My info on these cars comes from the general talk around them at the particular show. Apologies if I am mistaken but I dont think I am.
