My 930=Wrecked. No witnesses
Just a mindless rant, but human beings suck - particularly here in Los Angeles. Heading North up Sepulveda Blvd. this afternoon (ironically enough, on the way to the body shop to get a quote to fix a bit of spot painting on my front fender that turned out less than perfect), and some lady in a 96 Integra decides to do a left hand turn across three lanes of traffic into a side street. One lane didn't see her in time and guess who the first car in that line was? Me. Not one rotten ba$tard stopped to witness, everyone just went on their way. Typical LA. No estimate on the damage yet, but my left front frame rail is definitely damaged and front bumper, valance, chin spoiler, extensions, etc. are toast. The cop insinuated that if he were to cite anyone, it would be 50/50 since (according to him), she was making an unsafe left turn and I was "travelling too fast for conditions approaching a hidden intersection". I couldn't believe it - this was not an intersection - it was a random entry into a side street from a busy thoroughfare. I'm pissed!!! Any one on the board ever used or know anyone that has used Bastoli Auto Body in Westchester, CA? They do a lot of exotics and they seem to know their shiz - it'll be going there for an estimate early next week.
On a side note - even though my car has some serious damage, her 96 Integra was pushed approx. 10 feet and spun around, broken rear suspension, punched in side, etc.. To the uninterested observer, it looks like mine has a messed up front bumper and a broken driving light. Porsches (older particularly) are built like tanks, and for that I am grateful. Rant over.........I'll post some pics if I get a chance......

Of course nobody stopped to "witness" they would have had to get off their f*cking cell phones and put down their iced Frappachinos!
Living in the Hollywood hills, I spend enough time on the streets & freeways of LA to know its full of knuckle heads who shouldn't have a license let alone a car. I used my car for a daily driver for a long time. Now it just goes out on the weekends...EARLY...when "most" of the dill holes are still asleep. Now if we could only get the wanna be Lance Armstong cyclist off Mulholland Highway..we'd be in good shape.
My significant other is from Chicago...not what I'd call the land of A+ drivers, and she swears the drivers here in LA are the worst of anywhere she's ever been. Like with most things she's right they are bad...for a variety of stereotypical reasons...but then again, I went to school in Boston...they don't call them Mass-holes for nothin...now there's a town w/some bad drivers!
Let the board know if you find a good body shop here. Lord knows there are a boat load...but for good work I can't help you on that. You may want to ask your wrench or call around to a couple of higher end places like Aurel & Don's or By Design or Speed Gallery...or even call BH Ferrari and see who they recommend.
Good luck, and congradulations for not getting out and shooting her!

I read the title and thought someone vandalized it.
"It'd be worth them doin it, just so I could catch them doin it.."
Were you both heading north with her in the lane/s to the right of you or was she heading south? Sounds like that cop was being a jerk.
I'm guessing you said something to the Integra driver, like "..now pretty please, with sugar on top - fix my ****ing car."
Good luck at the body shop, mate. It's easier to fix front-end damage on a 930 than rear(damn torsion tubes) - it should be good as new.
Ima watch Pulp Fiction tonight.

I was heading North, she was heading South (well, actually, she attempted to head SouthEast, which is what caused all of this). The cop was a nice enough bloke, and he was actually sympathetic to the fact that this lady had caused catastrophic damage to my prized possession, but I don't think he was speaking based on facts with regards to the 50/50 at-fault - I guess the adjusters will decide. Even more suspect is the fact that he told me that this type of accident in that area is quite common because of the fact that there are no signs and warnings (oh, if I only had the time and resources to launch legal action against the city of Manhattan Beach, CA). Anyways, back to reality. I see you're in Saskatchewan.........Saskatoon, or elsewhere? I am a Bluenose - originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, living all around the US for the last eight years...........so greetings and salutations, my Canuck comrade - you are a member of a select few in Canada, owning a very nice PCar........
Oh, and nice catch on my nick - it came from Pulp Fiction, but the problems I fix are computer related - not quite the same as Keitel's character. A co-worker at my old consulting company ordained me with the moniker.......

And greetings to you, kinsman. My best friend is in Halifax doing an animation series for CBC. He brought me some lobster and crab soup and I must say - there is not a restaraunt in this world with soup that good. It saves lives everyday, I'm certain..
I'm just back to Saskatoon after several years working in Dallas/Ft.Worth. I went to a Stars game and they thought any scoring chance was a power-play, even 5on5.
Good on ya, mate.

Don't launch legal action against Manhattan Beach----I live there, don't want to pay any more taxes than i already do
Seriously, sorry to hear 'bout the accident. Glad nobody seriously hurt.
btw, is your 930 Black? I see a black 930 commuting North on PCH/Sepulveda in Redondo Beach daily. I remember a discussion i had w/ an autobody guy who said: "left hand turn accidents are *always* charged against the person making the left turn", just like "rear ended accidents *always* charged against car in back". good luck

No worries there - between my deductible (if I end up 50% responsible) and other miscellaneous related expenses, I won't be blowing my savings on futile lawsuits against one of the most affluent communities in CA. My 930 is black, and I used to commute daily up PCH/Sepulveda, but for the last 18 months or so, I have been a very occasional commuter up PCH. I do know that I used to see someone driving a 3.2 Carrera w/ 930 whale-tail almost daily, so that is probably who you have been seeing lately. As far as the at-fault part of the fiasco, that is exactly what I was always told by people "in the know". Where this MBPD officer got the idea that I was at fault for an unsafe speed into an intersection that *technically* does not exist, I have no idea - I'm gonna fight it if the adjuster tries to assign 50/50 blame - the only thing I have going against me is that both involved drivers are with the same ins. company (State Farm). I guess I'll know more after the early part of next week.

If you and the other driver both have State Farm that is good. they are easy and quick, albeit quicker when they just have to deal with themselves. In the end the ins. company makes the fault call, and since she didn't yeild to oncoming traffic and made an unsafe lane change, you'll be fine. Cop was just an *** to you because you have a nicer car than he ever will. Who was it? L.A. Sherriff, Torrance P.D.?

I hope you are correct on all counts. The officer was a traffic division motorcycle cop from Manhattan Beach PD - the accident happened about a half-mile into Manhattan (Sepulveda & 10th, to be exact). Even though I have no real intention of getting rid of my Turbo any time in the near or medium term future, I still worry about the effects of having to have the left front rail/unibody structures pulled (and a small part of me is pissed about the depreciation in value, should I ever decide to sell). I mainly just want it back to as good or better than before the hit.

Manhattan Beach cops are ****** for the most part.
A good body shop shouldn't have a problem, I can recommend Class Autobody in Long beach, I would send them all of my P-car work and he is certified by Porsche AG if I remember correctly and I never had a complaint and his work is excellent. So PM me if you want his info. No worries if the work is done well, it will be hard, if not impossible, to tell anythings ever been done except by a person in the auto body business.
When metal is bent it fatigues, so if it is hit, pulled back, it will be weaker the next time, I wouldn't worry as most full blown race cars get put under a torch or a frame rack about once a month and are pulled six ways from sunday and they are fine.
