I missed the part in the Porsche information about "do not drive the car"?
Your not beating a dead horse I completely get your point and agree with most of it. But I am not spending any more of my time this weekend researching the multitude of problems associated with the Saleen GT errrr I mean Ford GT. Many sources both inside and outside of Ford have put this control arm issue at over 400 cars. And the last time I checked Porsche was building all it's flagship 996 turbo's in house and not sending them to Steve Saleen?
Next month the early Saleen GTs will be below MSRP if your so confident in your data go buy one and enjoy it. I am sure the highly trained Ford tech who finished up working on a windstar then went and replaced all the control arms on your new 150K car then set the camber and castor and bump steer does that every day and knew exactly what he was doing and had no trouble getting at that rear main seal and installing that band aid sleeve. LOL LOL

Yes, as I said, 448 cars had been manufactured with the suspect control arms, but only 289 had been shipped to dealers and of those, only 106 had been sold to actual consumers.
And I love the prices dropping on Ford GTs, even if some of it is because people are blowing the early production problems out of proportion.....

I wonder what the cost of the Shelby GT-1 will be. The car is beautiful. That is the car I will wait for. I just hope it has the same capabilities as the GT. Both are gorgeous.

I've got a sales brochure that came out from ford for the new GT and they called it a GT 40 its rare as they person who owned the gt 40 deignation wanted something like 1 mil. for ford to use the GT 40 name so thats why the changed it to just the GT Doug

If anybody wants to see the truth about the Ford GT recall and TSBs, see http://www.fordgtprices.com/pages/2/index.htm (scroll to bottom of page).
Other than the suspension recall and oil leak TSB, which applied only to the first few hundred cars made last year, the other TSBs are totally non-issues.
Read them for yourself and see.

( From www.FordGTprices.com )
Ford GT sales plummet 40% in July
May sales were 117 cars, June sales were 150 cars, but July sales dropped to only 91 cars. http://media.ford.com/pdf/July2005sales.pdf
Reason #1: Many dealers are waiting (in vain) to find buyers willing to pay $180K or $200K or more, instead of paying the current market price of $165K-$170K. It's safe to say that most Ford dealers have ZERO experience selling $150,000 cars, and many genuinely think that since their buddy's dealership in San Diego sold one last November for $250,000, they aren't going to take a penny less for theirs. The problem is, they need a time machine to get that price.
Reason #2: Ford's recent highly-illogical $10,000 price increase ("Hey, sales are slow, let's raise the price!") has further confused buyers and sellers (and they were already confused enough!)
Prices continue to drop, Ford GT sold for $165,000 on eBay
Loaded Ford GT sells for $165,000 (only $9K over MSRP), see http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=4566789075

My partner has a 2005 GT and it is rather impressive. Brutal power from the get go, no 3500rpm turbo lag like my 88 930. First gear through 65 in less than four seconds with five mode to try out. There is no need for a sixth gear. The tires grip from the start with no spin out like the Viper.
And to top this off, a 16 year old kid could drive this car with ease.
His has the "Speed Yellow" with black stripes and, I believe, the best color for the car. There is only yellow and black trim parts on the exterior with a pure black interior. The red is nice, but has white stripes and black trim. Not nearly as striking as the yellow. The interior is comfortable. The floor is a thick rubber matting with rather large, deep holes for grip, kind-of odd, but it looks sixties, I guess. The console is a huge chunk of silver plastic with a small ball shifter sticking out of it. The dash board, push button starter is cool though, so is cold A/C and the fantastic sound system.
I found the biggist problem is the door. It must be opened all the way or you can not get out of the car. The door includes half of the roof panel. I have banged my head on the door several times. Kind of embarrasing when you see everyone looking at the car and then you get out only to stand up and plant your head into a $150,000 door.
The only thing that looks FORD on this car are the badges and valve covers.
The SVT headers and exhaust are on order from Ford. They say it will bolt on 85 more horses to 625.
