just bought a prototech modded 911

I've always thought prototech made some of the most beautiful looking intercoolers...are you planning on just getting a different front valance or going to ruf bumpers front and rear? and lose some weight in the process. looks good, gotta love the classic lines.

I'm going with a new valence that looks like a stock 930S (or maybe a DP) but fits on the narrow front end. Something like this, but on a narrow body car.

Congratulations on your car, it must be a lot of fun to drive..! I think you made a great deal for that price.
Prototech are very good builders but I doubt that they can get 550 RWHP out of the 3.2 at 13psi, the math does not add up, this is what Todd Knighton can get out of a 3.6 Twin plug stage 3 at 1 Bar (14.7psi)+.
In any case, I am sure it is wild, enjoy it and please post some 60-130mph acceleration runs

The original build claimed 515rwhp, 550 at the crank. We'll see the recent dyno sheets soon enough. I'm not really worrried about it though. My last track day I was passing 993's and 996's in the rain in my 2.7 litre non-turbo 911S! Several of the high HP guys were worried about the walls in the bowl of the oval (Milwaukee Mile road course).
The high hp will be for fun not bragging rights.

If you go to Protomotive website (or what looks like it ) you can see the description of their turbosystem upgrades by engine type. The stage 2 is hown there. Basically it says compression 8.8 , top end engine rebuild, one plug per cylinder, high flow fuel pump...I don't know what turbo though.
Concerning the hp, I am just highlighting it as an FYI only. Stage 2 HP is quoted at 485hp (Flywheel) which is more reasonable. 515RWHP would be closer to 600 hp.
In any case I am sure it is a 993TT killer with that weight and engine.
Congrats.

Jean,
Thanks for the info, it's appreciated. I think we're confusing prototech and protomotive. BTW, I agree with Sameer about your avatar.
Prototech is at www.prototechonline.com and their stage descriptions are "under construction". I'm asking David Hart at Prototech for a description of his stage two mods.
Protomotive is at www.geocities.com/protomotive/ but they are not the same folks.

mr coyote99, i might as well get my 2 cents in . thanks for the pixs, and all of the info which you and the other great guys provided, i reviewed it with considerable inerest! i own a 911/964/c4/'91, formerly naturally aspirated. i went thru the usual n.a. upgrades, ie, dual exhausts, headers, mass air flow sensor, enlarged throttle body, chips, etc. and was still no where near satisfied! i've had several fast rides in the past, including one that would cross the 1/4 mile traps @ 112 mph, @5500rpm in SECOND GEAR with f-70 tires (giving my age away). the rear was only 3:08. hard telling what she would have done with a gear! back to my story, i purchased between a stage 4 and 4+, tt package from protomotive in ca. prototech is a " part of t he protomotive group", trust me i have all of their literature in my hands. the spec info consists of an upgrade to 3.8 liters, twin turbos, 8.25 c.r.,clutch/pressure plate upgrade (a little stiffer that stock), protomotive headers, muffler, intercooler (mine looks like yours), twin fuel pumps, software, high rate valve springs, flame ringed cylinder head seals, fuel pressure regulator, etc. the spec sheets show stage 4 @650 hp (flywheel) 488 on the ground. stage 4+ shows 700 hp, 525 on the ground. stage 4 @ 1.2 bar, stage 4+ @ 1.25 bar. mine is detuned to approx. 1.1 bar for longevity. i had it assembled be a very capable local wrench, who is also very SLOW! it ran like the wind for approx. 300 miles beyond the breakin period, then began to consistently shut down when beginning to spool up, @ approx. 3400 rpm. (before i forget i also have a second oil cooler in series with the stock unit, and a seperate fan switch as recommended by protomotive, and david @ prototech.) as i am tired of waiting on the local wrench, my pride and joy will shortly vacation with david, arrangements have been made, it will also be dynoed, as well as tuned. i have the spec sheet on stages 1-4+ if you are interested. lastly, as i understand it anither individual began the "lauderdale" facility sometime age, moved to ca. and with time, established protomotive. i think that there may be a third location in arizona? none-the-less, ca. was willing to sell the parts, with install by others, david was not, particularily because of the grief that i am having, thru no fault of prototech or protomotive. i had previously posted 2 pixs on the 911 turbo club website about sept. '04, they should still be there. sorry for the length of this mail, probably put most to sleep! beautiful ride that you "stole", let us/me hear from you. tjn/vettekiller
