Default Straight pipe out of Turbo

Last fall someone posted a web page of a company that sells a pipe that comes straight out of the turbo. I've done a search but can't find it. Does anyone know who sells those?

Do you mean out of the wastegate?

If so, it is called a "wastegate dump pipe" and it sounds pretty cool. I've got one of those - found it on e-bay for less than $40 in stainless steel.

I found the site. Fabspeed is who makes it. It is a 3" stainless pipe that comes straight out of the turbo then angles about 45 deg downward. Obviously no muffler whatsoever. They have sound clips of it on their site. Hopefully the guy that does my inspection sticker here won't rev it to high and back off where it does sound UH how should I say slightly louder than stock. I'm looking forward to how it sounds and if it does let the car rev faster as they claim. It is only 250 bucks so if it's to knarly I can put the stock muffler back on.
I've had my 76 for 20 years now and am having it completely repainted, the rain gutters trimmed off, and the RSR type tail lenses put on. My son will get to take it to his high school prom. They way they do it here is the kids drive all manner of cool cars. My daughter got to use it 5 years ago when she went to her prom and now my son will too. There is usually a crowd of several hundred people in grandstands as they drive up. The people watch it applaud etc. I'm looking forward to the reaction when he drives up in it.

That piece has got to be VERY loud.

The wastegate dump pipe I referenced above is another very cool addition - cheap too. It dumps the "overboost" out in a loud "whooooooooosh" sound (like a jet in afterburner).

it isn't all that bad. The turbo itself does a fair amount of muffling. As for HP, I found the tuned performance muffler from GHL produced about 10 more HP then a simple dump pipe. Our KKK turbos prefer a slight amount of backpressure.

How can any turbo need backpressure? I've heard this before and I don't understand how any amount of backpressure would increase hp coming out of a turbo. Anyone know for sure?

I think it has to do with the impeller dynamics and design.

AZ930 what did you use coming out of your wastegate? My car is a 76 so the pipe from the wastegate went into the muffler. I'm going to have to do something about that.

The stock B&B is kind quite IMHO. I gutted my single outlet B&B muffler and it sounded a lot better.

I then made a straight pipe. At idle it's a little rough, but not too loud. Driving around it's much louder but you can still talk in the car w/o yelling. Brian's sounds good when he drives it. I drive mine around the streets sometimes after a track weekend for a good while. A 930's looks can get away with a little extra noise I think. Hehehehe

All this is subjective though.....
