Default Wevo Engine mount

Have any of you'll tried this engine mount? Isit noisy? Or is Weltmeister better?

The WEVO Semi-Solid Engine Mount is the first non-solid aftermarket engine mount developed specifically for Porsche 911 applications (1965-89). Factory rubber mounts allow too much deflection, causing drivability to feel somewhat imprecise. Solid aftermarket mounts increase responsiveness by fixing the engine location, but the metal-to-metal contact between the chassis and the engine is almost too rigid - which could ultimately affect the reliability of the vehicle.

Instead of compliant rubber or solid metal, the WEVO SS Engine Mounts utilize special elastomeric pillows to absorb vibration while minimizing drivetrain deflection. This exclusive design is thus the best of both worlds - providing a near-rigid engine mounting system while maintaining a quiet and comfortable ride. Use them for the street or the track - they're the most advanced engine mounts you can install on your 911!

This WEVO SS Engine Mount is suited to the following applications:

911 1965–89 Engine rear cross beam – 2 units
911 1972–86 Transmission mount – 2 units
930 1976–89 Engine rear cross beam – 2 units

Note: The SS Engine Mounts are installed using original hardware and have a gold anodized finish similar in appearance to the gold zinc plated factory parts. Each mount is sold individually.

Sameer:

We've not tried them yet, but they look very promising and MUCH better than solid mounts for the majority of applications.

Since we are WEVO dealers, I have some here and we'll do an install in the next few weeks.

Steve, what engine mounts do you recommend for the C2 Turbos (mine is a '94)?

Charlie:

WEVO doesn't offer these new mounts for the 964-based chassis and the popular solid aluminum mounts are simply much too brutal for street use. We use the RS hard rubber mounts in 964's at the engine mounts and the tranny mount. Its a great compromise between noise/vibration and improved shift quality.

Sameer:

I'll keep you posted. Generally speaking, the folks at WEVO do a bangup job at R&D so the only thing I'd expect would be a bit more vibration and noise over the stock (or SC/RS) mounts.

Any update on these mounts? Are they for engine only or can the transmission mounts be changed on a 930?

I get a lot of resonance already in my cabin as I dont have any carpeting or sound insulation. So I think I'm gonna cross this out of my "Sammy boys 911 projects"..

I have had the WEVO mounts in the car since May when I did the clutch, and I have no issues. The weak point is now the trans bushings. The factory engine mounts were toast. I have seen most all of WEVO's products in use on a friends pca race car before, during and after a race season. All are extremely well crafted.

Sameer,

No squeaks, groans or the like. I have used hard urethane mounts on some other cars and the noise can resonate. This would be a definite improvement over stock and yet not solid mount overkill for a street car.

I plan on taking them out at some point before winter and measure any permanent memory deflection. I am so used to replacing rubber engine mounts on old audis every year that I wouldn't even mind putting a fresh set on the 930 annually if need be.

I think I'll split the difference between sports and wevo and get some poly-graphite.
