Shop manuals ?
What do you guys use for shop manuals? Is the factory 930 manual helpfull? If so ,what do you need as the factory foundation manuals? Bentley manuals? Spec books? Anything on CD? I will eventually rebuild this engine , it is a 1984 930. Thanks in advance Jeff Robb

Yes to all those...plus the Porsche PET which has an exploded view and all part numbers for every item on your car - invaluable. I think they are on sale at Suncoast Porsche.
Porsche manuals are very helpful, but you are correct that you need all the previous 911 manuals to cover those items that are the same between your model and the 911. If it is an engine rebuild, then you need those that go from the introduction of the 1978 3.3L 930 to 1984 (or closest update to your car).

Thanks Jeffrey. I ordered a copy of the PETCD from SunCoast. I'm having trouble obtaining the 78-89 930 shop manual supplement, apparently it is no longer available and discontinued. Does anyone know where one is available for sale?

After trying and losing several bids on ebay , I finally got mine for a reasonable price. It was the WHOLE set from the beginning up through 89? I do believe. It came with a few extra books that the owner I think just wanted to get rid of. Keep an eye out for them on ebay and you will find a complete set at a reasonable price...albeit used.

There was a discussion about this a few months back. Here's a link to a place that sells the shop manuals in CD format. See topic "930 Tech manual" for more info.
