Default 930S

Hello all,

In respect to the 930, I am familiar to some extent as I spent some time looking for one in Canada, and then decided on the 993. The 993 was an excellent car and now that I am looking again, I keep getting drawn back to the 930.
The following is from a company in Canada who has an 84 930S. Is this something of interest or should I stay away? It will be an import direct from Germany. Thanks for your opinions in advance!

"Once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to acquire a rare and beautiful Slantnose-delete 930S Turbo Coupe! This highly collectible, 100% original 911 is one of only 34 genuine factory "Sonderwunsch" (special order conversion) Slantnose Turbos produced in 1984. It is fully equipped including special bodywork and interior, larger intercooler with extra oil cooler in special front spoiler (boosting HP to 330), and color-coded Fuchs wheels. This ultra-rare Porsche has covered only 105,000 km from new and will be fully inspected & serviced on arrival. Call for more details on this amazing investment"

That is basically a 930 with the rear quarter vents, side skirts, and perhaps the front air dam. In my opinion, is really nothing special, although there probably were few of them produced. The 330hp is also nothing and for a few thousand dollars, you can match and beat that hp level. However, if you are looking to keep it original, then perhaps this is a good route.

SPECIAL ! you can bet your life they're special.First of all these cars maybe just modified 930's and only have 330hp which maybe mild in today's terms but back in the early 80's this was a lot of hp for a production car and they were very special indeed ! They maybe not to everyone's liking but to those of us who remember LeMans in the 70's owning and driving one of these rare cars will always remind me of the 935's and history .Here in Europe they are now very sought after and the PCGB have just launched a new register specially for the turbo S's.
Regards

Hi,
I have a US '89 cab with the side scoops and and boxed rockers and I love it. I have the original window sticker showing the special items. The turbos are great but I wanted an original rare model so this is the route I went.
