Default B&B muffler

Does anyone have a trick on making a B&B single outlet muffler louder?
I'm trying to get a little more sound out of this muffler without going to a dual outlet.

Do you have a muffler on the wastegate? If so, switch to the straight dump pipe. I think it is around $100. When my 930 opens the wastegate, it is quite loud from the outside, although not too bad in the car.

Jim, I already have the wastegate dump pipe. I agree, I sounds great when the wastegate opens, but I'm looking for a little bit louder muffler.

Thanks for the reply.

Can the exhaust be gutted? I'm sure it will flow more air once gutted and that too shld increase noise level.

I have a single outlet B&B muffler that I gutted. Ground off each weld at both ends and pulled it out. Cut off the st st wire wrap and perforated tubes and welded the ends back on. Sounds great. Bigger flames are nice now too.

Thanks Jim. i guess that will be my next step unless I opt for a dual outlet.
How does yours sound in comparison to a dual?

Thanks

I've never heard a dual. The gutted muffler sounds good to me though.

When I'm at the track, it's a straight pipe. It sounds a little rougher at idle, but when you increase revs slightly, it smooths out. On the track, it sounds like one serious car out these.

BTW. B&B willmake your single a dual for about $500 last time I checked. Less than a new one.

Another option for the waste gate dump pipe...I had the WGDP routed to the stock valence cut out and a Borla piped to the new passenger side cut out...then had Fabspeed tips welded on the ends of each...the sound of the waste gate is now as dramatic as the exhaust...

Borla to the right, waste gate to the left...

Jim,
how much louder after you had it gutted and any power gains?

While a gutted muffler adds plenty to the volume (sounds nice IMO), you'll likely find little if any performance improvment. I actually lost some power on my car when I tried this. According to my G-tec I lost about .2 in the 1/4 and a couple of mph. Then switching to a straight 3" pipe gave me back everything I lost plus I gained .2/2mph. Keep in mind the mufflers are designed to channel the exhaust through them. By gutting them they become a big open expansion chammer and the exhaust becomes very turbulant and confused inside... then it's forced out a little hole at the other end. Like I said, gutted mufflers sound cool because the ehaust can echo inside, but I don't think you'll find any gains by doing this. If you want louder and hp gains go 3" straight pipe out to the stock exit location with a 90 or 45 on the end.

PorscheDavid - That's a nice look.

sameer - No tests before the surgery, so there's no baseline when I did my dyno runs.

Wet1 - You might be right? I don't know. It does sound good, but with no before and after testing....

To me, it's a good compromise between the stock B&B and a straight pipe. Has the right note to sound good and get someones attention, but not too loud to be obnoxious. I prefer it on the street with my stock w/g muffler. For the track, I pull all the plugs with a straight pipe on the w/g and turbo.
