This project is very much alive! Have been so busy working on the car, the updates have taken a back burner. The car was next stripped and media blasted at the body shop. Brought down to bare metal than sprayed with a corrosion inhibitor so the air didn't affect the finish. All individual parts were also blasted. At this point, we realized how nasty those side scoops really were.

After media blasting, the body prep began. All panels were one-by-one removed and refitted. Given the condition of the rear quarters, we elected to graft on some brand new turbo quarters from Porsche, rather than trying to patch the hack-job of a side scoop.

Once everything was properly test fitted and all gaps were perfect, we brought the car back to our workshop for some more part removal. Front trunk and engine bay were totally cleaned out and some more of the interior was removed. Final stage before paint.

Next up, rolled into the booth, masked, primed, prepped, and ready for paint.

Now I believe I mentioned earlier that the car was originally White Gold Metallic. The initial plan was to return the car entirely to its factory spec...but sometime during our months of covid delays, we all agreed life is too short to drive boring cars. In proper resto-mod fashion, while still paying tribute to Porsche in the time period, we've elected to paint the car in "paint to sample" Arrow Blue, a Porsche colour from the early '80s.

While teardown and paint takes place, the engine has also been slowly getting the love it needs. It was totally stripped down to the bare block for a FULL split case rebuild. Unfortunately we are short on photos of this process (things got kind of jumbled up in the middle of the project as we moved into a new dealership location), but in the next few weeks I will post some pics of the final product.

Were any modifications done to the engine during the rebuild? Or just keeping it stock?
