Bill

I would be interested to hear how you get on with the monoballs, who makes them? I have seen some concentric top mounts listed for the 911 at:

http://www.motorsportparts.co.uk/topmounts.htm

I am sorry to trouble you with this but I wonder how much trouble it would be for you to take a clear photo of the bottom strut mount on the rear of the car?

I need a view of it showing the mounting bolt passing through the strut mount and the trailing arm, showing any spacers that are used. The way mine are mounted just looks wrong so I would like to see how yours is done.

Thanks

Hi Barry - I installed the fron monoballs last night. These are what I installed: http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/..._installed.jpg

I have yet to drive the car as the weather has been terrible.

Here is a picture of the rear lower shock mount from the side:

Thanks Bill, very helpfull. The mountings look similar to mine. I was concerned about the length of the bolt protruding out of the arm, however the top hat bush on yours will stop the bolt flexing and transfer the force back against the arm my spacers are slightly different I think I will get some made up to suit.

Your spring plates are not standard, different to mine. They almost look like they have a Scissor arangment of adjusting them?

Thanks again for the pics.

As far as I know my spring plates are OEM. My car is an 86 so maybe they changed them between 79 an 86??

Stephen - the monoballs work great with the coil overs - much smoother steering feel and no binding or preload on the springs.

Barry - just to complete the picture, here are some instructions from Smart Racing Producst regarding the rear bump stop. I cut my down to almost exactly the size they recommend. They are right that if you do not do this your rear spring rate will go through the roof.

How much does a set like that cost? Also do you need anything else for the conversion?

You may want to contact a seller of these kits, such as Imagine Auto, for a price quote, but I believe you are looking at $2500 or so. This is a complete kit to switch to coil overs, but there are some things I would add if I were to do it over (such as monoballs and the spring bearings I mentioned in the adjustable sway bar thread). Add those parts and you are up near $3,000 for the parts.
