Smile what is the stock boost on a 87 930?

Hello
I have a friend that is looking into a 87' 930. I drove the car, very nice. What kind of boost should I be seeing on the gauge, and also at what rpm. How can I check to see it is getting the correct boost. Any thing else he should check for? Thanks in advance.

Full boost will be around 4500 rpm's. If I remember correctly only when my car was stock did I get an accurate reading from the built in boost gauge (I think). The problem is the sensor is before the thottle plate. If your friend likes the car then have a mechanic check it out before he buys.

Would you see full boost in any gear?

I rarely got full boost in first. The gearing had me getting to red-line so fast that full boost was rare. The rest of the gears - absolutely.

An inexpensive (relatively) way to lower the RPM at which the turbo spools is to buy an after-market header / muffler set up. I'm sure the Rennlisters reading will chime in with their recommendations.

Not to mention that the stock boost gauges are notoriously inaccurate. I have a digital boost controller in my car and it gives me very accurate readings. It will be reading around .5 - .6 bar when the stock gauage is reading 1 bar.
