Question What izzit?

No place else to ask.
WHAT is a 938S?
Never heard of this before....
A true 911 model, or someone's dream? Seems to be a 911, with what I know of 930 vents, ducts, style, etc.

A true "type 938"

Maybe what you saw was a typo for a 930S or someones "kit" variant.

Question

Thanks for the reply, John.

What you tell me doesn't go along with what I'm seeing. Check this out, and look at the third row of the description pics, first and second from left;

This one is definitely NOT a water cooler! So, what izzit?

Looks like a 930 with the slantnose body kit popular in the 80's. Probably was on Miami Vice a time or two 8).

That is a 1979 911 with a fiberglass body kit by Koenig. I wouldn't waste my time with it. Whomever stole the engine also took the sound pad, my guess is the events didn't happen quite as described. In fact my hunch is this was once a Chevy V8 conversion like this...

AIR sells(use to at least) these kits and when these kits were "popular" in the 80's there were lots of companies selling them/splashes or variants as their own and attaching made-up model designations. I seem to remember "938" being used to describe some of these. The sale brochures touted them as being based on the 935. I'm pretty sure that Rinspeed used this designation. Though, I seem to remember the 938 had 928 looking pop-up headlight look, thus the "8" in 938. Although many of these can be hack jobs even with the best intentions, I have to profess a soft-spot for some of the better executed mods from Strosek,DP and one of the originators of the form(beside the Porsche themselves) "b+b" . I'd love to have a nicely done DP:
