Default 930 rwhp

I've heard so many different things on the stock 930 hp that I'm not sure what is correct. Does anyone know how much rwhp is produced by a stock US 79 930 and also a stock 02 996 TT. On the new cars, does Porsche quote rwhp or fwhp?

Your best bet is to just go dyno your car and there you have it. Stock US is around 265, euro 300.

No way a stock 79' US 930 puts 265 to the rear wheels.

Porsche quotes FWHP.

US 3.3 930's 282 fwhp, Euro (better exaust) for 300fwhp.

Take 15% off for RWHP.

Thus apx US - Euro 240, - 255RWHP.

The C2 Turbo w a more effecent intake, turbo, & intercooler was apx. 320 FWHP which should test at about 270-275 RWHP.

A modified 930 w intercooler, biger turbo and 1 bar should be near 325-350 RWHP.

Add cams & ports, about 350-370rqhp at a true 1 bar.

Thus (325 - 375/.85=) 380 to 435 fwhp.

Dififferent Dynos & procedures will read differently. Often a correction factor may be involved that can make numbers a bit incomparable.

---

For a 02 996TT (non X50) 420 FWHP. Figure 20% drive line loss for 4WHP. Or 15% if the front drive is disconected for RWHP.

Thus, should be apx 335 if tested on as a 4wd or 360 on a 2wd dyno, apx...

I know there was change to all the plumbing from the "metering box" to the intake throttle body.

This included a faster acting Recirculating Air Valve (CBV).
This feeds into a more effecent turbo (K27 7200).
Which then feeds into a more effecent intercooler.

Add to this an electronicaly controlled ignition system and better breathing cat & muffler.

I recall corectly there were even some small changes in the 3.3 cam. The 94 3.6 csi motor had a very different cam which looks to be almost a C2 normal cam but with the overlap removed.

The change was somwhat based on the factory 330hp sport kit that was available on special euro 930's from Porsche.

In alll, not much different from what RUF and other turners were doing in the 80's.

In 2000 I rebuilt the 3.3 on my 1980 930 Euro. and got som real good results. It was put on a dyno 3 months ago and had 322 rwhp with 302 pound feet of torque at 4500 rpm. The torque curve went almost straight up and held from 2800 rpm thru 7000. I was very happy with the results.

The engine was overhauled adding C2/C4 grind cams, new chain tensioners, all bearings, heads massaged, new valves, valves guides, springs, keepers, rings, plasma coated pistons, etc. I added a K27 and larger intercooler. The only item we did not tear into was the fuel system.

I installed a aluminum pressure plate, larger intercooler, one bar waste gate spring and a K&N air filter.

The only issue I have with the car is that it is so quick that it can get you in trouble fast. It is a true "****, aim, fire" type of car. My son and i went to inport night at the drag strip and poped a 12.8 on the first pass. The got the attention of the rice burners.

If you don't mind me asking, how much would a rebuild of similar spec set someone back?

all told it was about $6200. I spent more by adding a fuel enrichment system but that made the car run way to rich so I removed it. I also purchased the K27 used and had it rebuilt.

Your 0-60ft time must have been pretty good.
