Default Rear Reflector

My rear reflector looks as if the clear coat is coming off of it. Does anyone know how to remove the rest of it, or should I buy a new one?

I don't think these have a clear coat on them unless added by a PO.

There is clearly a film (clear) which is coming off. I can scrape it off with my fingernail revealing a nice finish of the reflector.?
Any other advice?

There is a plastic refinishing kit called "micro-mesh" or something close to that used to refinish plastics on everything from airplanes to boats. You basically sand the plastic smooth with different grits of sand paper. Starts with coarse grit sandpaper and works up to about 11 or 12000. Even works on clear lenses.
Probably around $50.00 Chuck
