Default 3.0 or 3.2

hi all,
recently bought a cheap 86 911 from japan and its arriving in australia soon.
it was cheap because it has apparently been fitted with a 3.0.
i assume there is no such thing as a 3.0 86 911.
ive attached a photo, could somebody confirm it is a 3.0 and any reason why someone would go to the effort of fitting a 3.0

It is for the heater.

Looks like the car used to be silver as well.

Money....the 3.2 motor probably died and this was cheap fix. This is not such a bad deal. Rumor has it that the rod journals on the 3.0 are bigger than the 3.2...the 3.0 motor lasts forever, or thereabouts. I hope this SC was REALLY cheap!!!

Sounds like you solved it, but just for comparison sake, here is my 81 SC engine vs my 86.
