Default Has anyone ever done this????

I bought my first Porsche (2014 turbo )and I am very happy with it.
I love the older style Porsches as well. Especially the wider body variant. This may not even be doable but has anyone ever fabricated an old Porsche wide body onto a more modern Porsche chassis?
Ive seen people doing it with various muscle cars but really didn't know if was even in the realm of possibility.
If not a will still probably build or purchase an older Porsche to go with my newer one.

Thanks!!

Wow... the singer porsches may be the most amazing porsches I've seen.
I can see why they have the price tags they do.

I was contemplating buying a 996 or 997 turbo , removing the body and fab'ing an older wide body onto it if it could somehow be done. I'd likely cage it and just run a pair of seats .
since I have the newer turbo as my daily driver. I enjoy the hands on process of the build so if I can do it I may go that route . Haha if I make a few right moves in the next year or two I
I may drop the money on a singer .my brother has fell in love with Porsche after one ride in my turbo so theyd likely just stay in the family

While the air cooled 911 and the 996 and 997 may have similar silloettes they are completely different cars. The 996 and 997 are considerably larger cars with longer wheelbase's, etc. It would take a real wizard of a custom car builder to pull something like that off and have it look right.

Thanks brewmeister for clarifying the size difference in length or width , that was my fear that it'd be too much of a difference to make the body swap doable . Hmmmm I may just have to settle on doing one without a chassis swap

Porschauar 356 E-type. I guess we should have seen it decades ago. Changing the wheels to something reminiscent of a 356 would have helped quite a lot.

Or you could go rogue and do something like this. Modern watercooling in a widebody.
