Best Coolant for my 3.2 Carrera?
Hi,
Since my 3.2 Carrera is about 29 years old and coming up on 151,352 miles, I think it is time to flush the coolant system and replace the coolant. The car is not overheating or anything - this is just preventative maintenance.
But I need suggestions on a good coolant to use. My indy mechanic recommends Penrite Classic Car coolant, but I kinda want to use something cheaper like Prestone because, as my mechanic told me, I need about 20 gallons of coolant for this car and so the costs add up. Plus, apparently, a lot of labor is required as well - further driving up the costs.
So would Prestone be OK, or do I need the expensive stuff formulated for classic? Or other suggestions are welcome.
Thanks,

I think you should convert the reactor in the back to liquid sodium cooling. Although more dense than water, it transfers heat more efficiently, and probably will result in some weight savings.

Thanks all for all the great recommendations and I have made my decision. At the end of the day I chose Don Pilar Extra Añejo. Effective if not cheap.
Thanks,

There is another thing to watch out for when you pull your car out of storage -It's a little known fact that if you put Sta-bil in the tank when you stored it, remember, that stuff doesn't last forever. You need Sta-bil Squared to keep the original Sta-bil from going bad.
