Good Shop in West LA???
Hi all -
I'm looking to get my 78 911SC rebuilt. The motor is toasted.
Any suggestions in Los Angeles? Specifically West LA?
Specifically, I've heard of The Specialists, Otto's and Redline.
Does anyone have any history w/ any of these guys? I'd like to get some references before I drop a lot of money.
thanks.

Manhattan Beach....
I have been using Accutrak in Manhattan for 4 years for both the 944 and the 911SC. They have done all of the mods in my 911, and the top end of the 944.
One of my pilots bought an '83 911SC that they had (zero-timed) rebuilt the engine and trans on. He loves the car, and is a daily driver.
No interest here other than being a very satisfied customer.

Why would you limit yourself to West LA for something as big as an engine rebuild? You're subsidizing some pretty high rents, that way.
(That said, Otto is good.)

Hey, Singpilot:
Was that your Guards Red SC (whale tail, blk fuchs) at Accutrak a couple wks ago? I went there for the 1st time (for my wife's BMW), since my regular wrench (GranSport in M.B.) moved out of town.
I got a pretty good first impression of Tony at Accutrak. Do you fully trust him and are his prices reasonable? btw You mentioned 'mods' to your 911: Does Accutrak do more than just regular maintenence?
Thanks
Mike

Racer
Otto has done great work for me. Told me what my car needed, what it would cost, and there were no "Gosh, I didn't think it would need that so your bill's $800 higher" moments. (And looking at the dozens of racing awards hanging on his walls lets you know he builds 'em and drives 'em real fast.)

MIK;
Probably was my SC at Accutrak. There is an SC targa there also Guards Red that is having a complete new front valance installed.
Tony is the 911 nut, Pat likes doing everything else, but is also a good resource.
They have done all of the work on both of my cars, and will tell you right out if you are wasting your time and money on something. Both cars have never run better.
