Default 82 Targa SC with 7500 miles, what it worth?

http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/n...924277713.html

I've working on a small collection of keeper cars...

I'm looking at this one as a 5-10 year investment, not as a common driver, but I'll take it out and enjoy it from time to time, if only to show it off and keep things lubricated.

What is a fair price for something like this?

Not sure where to start. In no particular order:

- SCs are a highly dubious investment proposition.

- "the odometer shows 7,318 miles" means **** all. Does it truly have those miles, and can the seller offer reasonable evidence? Doesn'y sound like it.

- true unmolested 7300 mile cars sell for twice that much

- momo wheel, aftermarket exhaust and wevo shifter don't sound consistent with a ultra low mileage car

- seller is a flipper who clearly doesn't know **** about the real history of the car except for what he can figure out from a few assorted pieces of paper.

I wouldn't give that car the time of day honestly.

... and it comes with anti-lock brakes!

Maybe the odometer shows just over 7300 miles but that "toolbox" has at least 100k on it.

Not sure if those carpets are OEM. Door speakers are not.

Scanning your stable and history with Porsches, there is now way you believe that car has less than 10k miles.
Good luck.

id say there is a zero missing off that milage. the car is in very good condition no doubt and not too far away in price from where it should be, i would say about 5k-7k over depending on location and time of year . But certainly not one to buy as as an investment.

too bad he didnt show the coa as i am curious if Porsche would have put the turbo tail on without the front splitter anyway.
Definitely not factory Fuchs, they have been retreated, guage trim rings are aftermarket. fan housing is corroded and engine although not bad, is certainly not pristine. ignition surround is beat up too.
As always the devil is in the details... he doesnt say it has 7318 miles .... he says the odometer shows 7318 miles, which is technically correct.

if you want to see an sc with 7K i am sure sloan would have something , jut to give you an idea of price.

personally i think prices are starting to slip back from the peaks.

proceed with caution.

oh and the toolkit came fr om a junk yard and is missing just about everything.

That car is near me and I will have to make it a point to stop in and see it.. from the pics.. I would agree, she doesn't look to be an under 10k mile car.

I agree with the others, the odometer is way off or was replaced.

Here is an 83 SC with 7,500 miles to compare to.

Thanks folks -- I agree. My spidey senses were tingling -- but that is not a year I know much about.

As always Rennlist is a great resource.

thanks,

Mike

It has sugar scoops, so $5k tops.

Wasn't it '80-'83 that the cars were delivered with 85MPH speedos? (Got the Weissach in the back yard with its original.) I can't count how many I changed out.......

Def not a 7500 mile car, motor looks to be steam cleaned and leather looks to be replaced. Too many m ods for a 7500 mile survivor
