Default Cruise control out of control...

Just joined this forum today and got an answer to my first question in less than 5 minutes....very cool!

My Bentley manual will be here in a week but I have time to kill this weekend, so here's the next question:

88 Carrera Cab 3.2, 110k mi - Cruise control does not work.

I have no Idea where to start looking. Is there a particular component that fails. I'll have the steering wheel off to change out the high-beam switch. Do the cruise control switches go bad often? Where is the control box? The questions are endless.

Failed rear brake light bulbs, including high mounted, will prevent the cruise from working.

Your good, very good!
The high mounted lamp IS out.

I owe you a cold adult beverage for that one.

But how? Is this an accident of the wiring circuit or a planned indicator to let you know your lamps are out?

Thank You
Andrew

Cruise control "braking" kill circuit failsafed by adding voltage pullup resister in case bulb circuit fuse is blown. Open bulb, circuit "floats" "high" kills cruise.
